Carrington (CSi) Foster County officials are awaiting a report from the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation after a complaint following the June 10, 2014 primary election in the county.

The complaint was filed through the office of Foster County State’s Attorney Paul Murphy.

Jonathan Horvath is on trial in Wahpeton, where the case was moved because of extensive media coverage in Williston. He faces several charges including murder in the March 2013 shooting of 28-year-old Derrick Spiegel, of Williston, which authorities say happened following an argument.

Defense attorney Steven Mottinger told jurors during opening statements that Horvath might have pointed a gun at Spiegel, but it wasn’t Horvath’s intent to kill him.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – A Texas company wants to run through Iowa an underground pipeline that would carry crude oil from North Dakota’s Bakken oil fields to Illinois.

The  pipeline route in Iowa would begin in Lyon County and slice southeast through 15 other counties and exit Iowa at Lee County. The pipeline would end at Patoka, Illinois, where the oil would have railroad access to several markets.

Energy Transfer Partners LP, of Dallas, is proposing the pipeline, which would carry at least 320,000 barrels a day in a 30-inch diameter pipe.

The project faces Iowa regulatory reviews from the Utilities Board and the Department of Natural Resources. The company wants to begin operation of the pipeline by the end of 2016.

Update…

EPERNAY, France (AP) – Matteo Trentin has won the seventh stage of the Tour de France in a photo finish, after a group crash and hilly final section split the pack – notably ensnaring U.S. rider Tejay van Garderen.

Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali retained the overall lead. Van Garderen, who crashed within the last 17 kilometers on the stage, lost time in the title chase.

The sun finally broke through clouds that had dumped rain over riders in recent days for the 234.5 kilometer (146 mile) ride from Epernay, the capital of Champagne country, to the eastern city of Nancy.

Overall, Nibali has a two-second lead over Astana teammate Jakob Fuglsang and is two minutes, 37 seconds clear of Alberto Contador, his main rival.

REIMS, France (AP) – Andre Greipel (greh-PEHL’) of Germany has won the 120-mile, mostly flat sixth stage of the Tour de France as the pack entered Champagne country. Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali has retained the yellow jersey.

EPERNAY, France (AP) – Tour de France riders have set off on the seventh stage, 234.5 kilometers (146 miles) from Epernay, the capital of Champagne country, to the eastern city of Nancy.

Overall leader Vincenzo Nibali has a two-second lead over Astana teammate Jakob Fuglsang and is two minutes, 37 seconds clear of Alberto Contador, his main rival since defending champion Chris Froome dropped out of the race injured two days ago.

The mostly flat stage should favor breaks, while Contador’s Tinkoff-Saxo team may try to test Astana’s control of the pack.
