It has been compared to a cross between bowling and curling, in which the two teams stand on opposite ends of the field and take turns trying to knock down each other’s row of bones. This is done by throwing more bones at the standing bones, and must be done in a specific order. Bunnock is especially popular in Saskatchewan Canada where many Russian and German immigrants settled in the early 20th.

From Wes Anderson
Valley City (CSi) Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Come One Come ALL! After a false start and major disappointment of Alan Komrosky’s Triceratops “Bob” first being planned and announced that it was coming to the Barnes County Museum and then not coming due to the back door being three inches too short, Allen Komrosky and crew have pulled a rabbit out of their hat and made it possible for “Bob” the Triceratops to at last being displayed on the main floor of the Barnes County Museum for all to see.
Wes Anderson says, the process has been gradual, starting with the massive skull that came to the museum on Memorial Day. The rest of “Bob”was assembed as Alan dismantled “Bob” from where it’s been assembled in the workshop.
It will be on display at the museum for an undetermined length of time while Alan seeks a buyer and permanent home for “Bob”.
The dismantling process involved painting the metal skeleton that clutches the heavy fossil pieces of Bob like jewelry.

DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) – Dickinson police have issued an arrest warrant for a 37-year-old man they say botched a robbery attempt last week and shot one man.
Dickinson police are looking for Patrick Lohan. Lohan is charged with Class A felony robbery.
Lohan allegedly tried to rob a camper with four people inside at Huether’s Villa Trailer Court on June 20. He allegedly demanded money and was armed with a short-barreled shotgun.
Police say Lohan fired four shots shortly before 3 a.m. One of the shots hit a 41-year-old man in the leg. His injuries are non-life threatening.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Police have charged a 24-year-old man in the death of a Fargo man who died Thursday night.
Police say Christopher Hampton shot and killed his 28-year-old roommate. Hampton is charged with murder, a Class AA felony.
Police have not released the identity of the victim, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Hampton was detained near the scene of the shooting at a duplex about 8:30 p.m. Thursday and later arrested.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – A man convicted in the November stabbing deaths of his ex-girlfriend and another man in Fargo could face life in prison without parole.
David Stevens is scheduled for sentencing Friday afternoon. He pleaded guilty in January to killing 23-year-old Samantha Wickenheiser, of Fargo, and 30-year-old Ward Berg, of Moorhead, Minnesota, in Wickenheiser’s north Fargo apartment.
Stevens’ wife told police the pair drove from Brookings, South Dakota, to Fargo the night of the killings because Stevens wanted to pick up clothing from the apartment. Investigators say David Stevens brought two knives with him.
Prosecutors say Stevens deserves the maximum penalty to “bring some measure of justice” in the case.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – An early morning lightning strike caused a fire at a saltwater disposal well near the northwestern North Dakotan town of Ross.
State Health Department environmental geologist Kris Roberts says lightening hit the well owned by Fort Worth, Texas-based Basic Energy Services at 4:30 a.m. Friday. He says fires were still burning as of 7:30 a.m. and that the site likely will be destroyed.
Roberts says one worker was on site at the time of the strike but was not injured.
Saltwater is a byproduct of oil production. It is between 10 and 30 times saltier than seawater and is disposed of in special wells.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A North Dakota regulator wants the state to employ its own railroad safety inspectors to help monitor crude shipments coming from the oil patch.
Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorchak says the idea is aimed at preventing accidents like the fiery oil train crash outside Casselton in December that left an ominous cloud over the town and led some residents to evacuate.
Fedorchak is crafting a plan that would add at least two inspectors in the state to augment inspections already done by the Federal Railroad Administration. Fedorchak says 30 states have their own railroad inspectors.
Gov. Jack Dalrymple says he’s open to the proposal. The governor says the oil train crash in his hometown of Casselton has raised the stakes when it comes to rail safety.
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) – A new postal facility is opening in the western North Dakota oil boomtown of Williston on July 1.
U.S. Sen. John Hoven made the announcement in a statement on Friday.
The new facility will have more than 2,800 post office boxes, an automated 24-hour kiosk and a full service window with three clerks.
Hoeven says the new facility is a big step toward improving postal services in the oil patch.
The postal service has struggled to keep up with the rapid growth rate of the oil patch and compete with high salaries offered by other jobs in the area. Earlier this year they bumped starting salaries up to $21 an hour and added a $1,000 hiring bonus for new carriers.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Lake Region State College in Devils Lake is expanding its police officer training program to Bismarck.
The college is partnering with the police departments in Bismarck and Mandan and the sheriff’s offices in Burleigh and Morton counties. Classes start in late August and run through November.
Lake Region State has been training police officers in Devils Lake since 1987. It created a Fargo training academy in 2002, a Grand Forks academy in 2010 and a Minot academy in 2012.
Program Director John Maritato says having an academy in Bismarck will help address a growing number of law enforcement job openings in western North Dakota, home to the booming oil patch.

In world and national news…
WASHINGTON (AP) – A Pentagon official says the U.S. has started flying armed drones over Baghdad to protect U.S. civilians and military forces in the Iraqi capital. The official said the flights started in the last 24 to 48 hours to bolster manned and unmanned reconnaissance flights the military has been sending over Iraq in recent weeks. The official stressed that the armed drones are to provide U.S. protection and that President Barack Obama still has not authorized airstrikes against Sunni militants who have been overrunning territory in other parts of the country.
RIDGELAND, Miss. (AP) – A Mississippi attorney and tea party official has been found dead at his home, an apparent suicide. Mark Mayfield was among four men who’d been charged with conspiring to take photos in a nursing home of the wife of U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran. Photos were later used in an anti-Cochran political video. Mayfield’s death comes days after Cochran narrowly beat Chris McDaniel in a hard-fought runoff primary. McDaniel had tea party support.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – The Golden Gate Bridge is a step closer to getting a suicide barrier. Bridge officials in San Francisco today approved a $76 million funding package for a net system that would prevent people from jumping to their deaths. The funding package includes $20 million in bridge toll revenue. Federal money will provide the bulk of the remaining funding, though the state is also pledging $7 million. More than 1,400 people have jumped to their deaths since the bridge opened in 1937.
SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) – Officials say a defense attorney who was well known in his small, southern Kentucky town has been shot and killed outside of his law office by a man who wanted his help but was turned down. Police in Somerset say Mark Stanziano was shot at least four times Friday morning by a man who lives across the street, and who’d been waiting for him. Police aren’t saying why the man had been looking for Stanziano’s help — but they say it was an issue on which the lawyer wouldn’t have been able to do anything. The suspect is charged with murder.
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) – The soccer players’ union, and the sport’s governing body, are in agreement — Luis Suarez needs help. He’s been handed a lengthy suspension after biting a rival player during the World Cup soccer tournament in Brazil. It was the third biting incident involving the striker from Uruguay who also plays for Liverpool. Suarez returned to his native country early today, but arrived too late to see the hundreds of fans who had gathered last night to give him a hero’s welcome.
