Jamestown (CSi) The James River “Y” is currently hosting a Volley Ball Camp, in conjunction with the University of Jamestown.

On Wednesday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, the Y’s Executive Director Frank Conlin said, over 100 high school girls from a 100 mile radius of Jamestown are participating through Saturday this week, at the Y and the Hansen Center, on Campus.

Last week the camp was held for middle school girls.

Conlin reported the 1st Annual Y, Golf Tournament was recently held at Jamestown Country Club, which had 18 sponsors. R.M.Stoudt offered a vehicle for anyone hitting a hole-in-one, on hole four, but unfortunately no one aced that hole.

The proceeds went to the youth scholarship program.

Conlin reminds members, that the Y will be closed for the annual cleanup and maintenance week, July 7-11, 2014.

The Y’s staff and University of Jamestown staff will perform the work, which includes draining a re-painting the swimming pool, and installing some new carpeting.

He noted that swimming lessons continue this summer.

Signups are being taken for the upcoming Camp Rokiwan at Spiritwood Lake, in July.

The camp is a joint venture of the Jamestown Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs.

Scholarships are available with applications available at the Y’s front desk.

Fifty openings are offered, and at that time the camp is about half full.

Court documents do not list an attorney for Nash. He could face life in prison if convicted.

Authorities say the woman and her child went to the hotel room to hang out with Nash, and that Nash would not allow them to leave on Tuesday. They eventually were able to escape. The relationship between Nash and the woman was not clear.

ELGIN, N.D. (AP) – Authorities in Elgin say they are investigating reports of family pets being poisoned.

Grant County Sheriff Steve Bay says residents have called his office to report that when they took their sick dogs to the veterinarian, they were told the animals showed symptoms of ingesting rat or mouse bait poison.

) 10 dogs have apparently been poisoned in the southwestern North Dakota town, and one has died.

Bay says the local vet is getting a lot of calls about the dogs and that the investigation is one of the department’s top priorities.

Lince says that “everyone is just paranoid of losing their animals.”

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Agriculture Department has created a webpage to help anhydrous ammonia dealers comply with federal Environmental Protection Agency rules.

The site dealing with the Risk Management Program can be found at http://1.usa.gov/1lTBFZR . Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says it provides guidance materials and tools to help anhydrous facility managers better understand the program and how they can comply.

Anhydrous ammonia is a common farm fertilizer. The EPA requires all facilities that handle, process, or store 10,000 pounds or more of anhydrous to register with the agency and submit a risk management plan.

The EPA earlier this year granted authority to North Dakota’s Agriculture Department to enforce the requirements in the state. Goehring says pesticide and fertilizer staff will begin conducting inspections and compliance audits of anhydrous facilities in July.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) – Officials with American Crystal Sugar Co. say they should not have to testify in a lawsuit involving the sugar and corn syrup industries.

American Crystal is not part of the suit, but KFGO radio reports that the Moorhead, Minnesota-based company is being asked to provide information on genetically-modified sugar beets.

The complaint filed in California accuses corn syrup marketers of misleading consumers by claiming that sugar and high-fructose corn syrup are nutritionally the same.

Lawyers for American Crystal say the information wanted by corn syrup marketers is “confidential, irrelevant or obtainable from other sources.”

A judge has not ruled on the motion.

Travelers are being encouraged to cross during off-peak times such as before 6 a.m. or after 3 p.m.

The new plate still has a blue sky, a butte and a bison. It also has two wheat sheaves instead of one and the state’s tourism slogan, “Discover the Spirit,” has been replaced by “Legendary.”

The new plate also is flat instead of embossed.
