Later, Grissom placed the newspaper article about the guard's death on a board with the names of police officers killed in the line of duty.

After the arrest, Grissom treated Warrick to a ride on a roller coaster.

He went to the apartment of the security guard who'd offered to help Grissom after realizing he was the killer. The killer attacked, but Catherine arrived and shot and killed him.

Grissom and the team investigated the murder of Tony Braun, son of casino mogul Sam Braun. Catherine knew Sam since childhood, and spoke to him about his son's murder. When Grissom saw Tony's brother Walt scratching his ankle, he realized he had chigger bites, just like he'd seen on Nick earlier. The team determined Walt Braun and the wife of Braun's business partner Curt Ritten had killed Tony - Walt was jealous of his brother, and Ritten's wife knew her husband was sleeping with Braun's girlfriend.

Ultimately, Grissom proved the victim's drill was short-circuited by another employee and he was electrocuted.

The wife, however, told Brass one of the men was better than her husband. When they learned both men died from an insulin overdose, Heather told Grissom she was diabetic. Greg Sanders interrupted a beating in progress, and the thugs turned on him. Grissom visited Greg in the hospital, and comforted him when he told how his mother was always overprotective and he worried about how she'd react since he hadn't even told her he was a CSI. Later, when the family of a teen Greg hit and killed in self-defense filed a civil suit, Grissom advised him to get an attorney. Months later, when Grissom and Greg investigated a drive-by shooting where a man was killed, they learned a suspect was the brother of the teen Greg killed in self-defense.
