John Spencer, Director of Spencers Solicitors, a leading personal injury claimant law firm based in Chesterfield, last night (14 November 2012) won the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award at the Personal Injury Awards 2012 held in London (www.personalinjuryawards.co.uk).
In presenting the award, the Chair of the Judging Panel, Dr Harry Brünjes, said that John had campaigned tirelessly on behalf of injured persons seeking justice, highlighting his work for the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and the Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS), his appearances before the House of Commons Transport Select Committee considering the cost of motor insurance and his many media appearances.
The annual awards provide an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the excellence of individuals and organisations across the personal injury claims sector, identifying best practice and acting as an inspiration for others to emulate the achievements of those short listed.
The Outstanding Achievement Award differs to the main body of awards as the winner cannot nominate or promote themselves, but is put forward and decided on by the judging panel of 12 leading figures in the sector.
John is one of the UK's leading personal injury solicitors, with over 27 years of experience. He is a prominent advocate for claimant rights and wholesale reform to the personal injury marketplace to ensure transparency, access to justice and the protection of accident victims.
A member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) since 1995 and a Fellow since April 2006, he has also been elected to its Executive Committee. With his frequent, high-level involvement in Government policy development, John has been co-opted onto the Civil Procedure Rules Sub-Committee and is a member of the Civil Justice Council working party reporting on damage-based agreements. He is a past Chairman of Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS), and is its representative director of the Portal Company Board. John is also a member of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers (ACAL),the Pan-European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL) and the American Association of Justice (AAJ).
