MSC Bellissima (built 2019 /currently under construction) is the second of two identical-class, new-design and biggest MSC cruise ships by the company’s “Vista Project”. The first MSC Vista ship – MSC Meraviglia – is scheduled for launch in 2017. Both vessels are with passenger capacity 4700, GT tonnage 167,600 tons and propulsion power of 40 MW. There is an option for 3rd and 4th Vista-class MSC cruise vessels. This page was created to serve as billboard for latest news and updates on the MSC cruise ship Bellissima (Project Vista design) until the Italian line officially reveals the ship’s deck plans. This is an outbound link to the official page at MSCcruises.com (global /in English).

The following YouTube video is an official MSC Cruises release. It reviews both the Meraviglia and Seaside ship projects, so you can compare these exceptional cruise vessels as size, design and unique features. The Vista project consists of 4 vessels. Deliveries are scheduled for the years 2017 (Meraviglia), 2019 (Bellissima), 2020 (unnamed), 2022 (unnamed). The Seaside project consists of 3 vessels. Deliveries are scheduled for 2017 (Seaside), 2018 (Seaview), 2021 (unnamed).

The ship’s weight is 167,600 GT (gross tons), the length is 1033 ft / 315 m, beam (width) is 141 ft / 43 m. As size comparison to some of the world’s largest cruise ships, Bellissima is smaller only in comparison to the Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class vessels Allure, Oasis and Harmony.

MSC Vista project review

Among the new technologies implemented on the Bellissima ship are the RFID bracelets, which are similar as design to the Royal Caribbean WOWbands available on the lines’ largest ships Anthem, Quantum, Ovation and Harmony. Named by MSC “Near Field Communication”, these wristbands allow making onboard payments (drinks, specialty dining, shopping, arcade and casino gaming), booking Spa treatments, making restaurant reservations, and of course, keyless access to cabins. The new technology also allows parents to easily locate their kids on the ship. This option will be also available via the onboard card or a smartphone.

The Bellissima ship’s main features (officially announced so far) are:

Huge-size, open-air Aquapark is connected to a 2-tiered amusement park (indoor entertainment facility).

2-deck high aft lounge features an open-floor design and stylish furnishing.

2-deck high Atrium features a floor-ceiling glass wall for panoramic sea and port views.

Expanding on 2 decks is the ship’s unique promenade deck area (large-sized interior public space), which is designed to resemble a traditional Mediterranean village. The “picturesque” Promenade Deck has the ship’s shopping arcade (with duty-free priced boutiques and shops), various bars, specialty restaurants, live “street” entertainment, ample seating. The whole area is covered by a huge LED-screened dome ceiling, serving as “digital sky”. Besides the “real sky” webcam views, the Promenade LED screen above also shows various images, vistas, special-effects visual shows. The dome LED screen’s size is 5170 ft2 / 480 m2.

Total area of public spaces is 355210 ft2 / 33000 m2.

The MSC Cruises’ signature “ship within a ship” concept is also present – and naturally, extended. The MSC Yacht Club complex has duplex suite accommodations (with whirlpool baths on their balconies), its own (exclusive access) solarium (swimming pool with sunbathing area), exclusive lounge and restaurants.

The ship’s exclusive show lounge is named “Cirque du Soleil” (capacity 450 seats) and offers as signature evening entertainment the “Cirque du Soleil” – live acrobatic show program with aerial performances. The new program (annual cost USD 21 million) is through an exclusive partnership of the Canadian circus troupe with the MSC company. It is offered only on the four Bellissima ships. The program includes 2 shows per night, 6 nights per week.

The new-design MSC cruise ships also offer new onboard programming, including a new sports program (DOREBRO) for kids and teenagers, new theater show program, and an interactive cooking class (DOREMI Chef) by the Michelin chef Carlo Cracco.

All MSC ships by the Vista project are among the world’s most technologically advanced marine vessels, and designed with increased energy efficiency in mind. Each of them has top-modern marine scrubber technology to lower CO2 emissions. The new MSC ships are also water emission free, meaning they do not pollute sea/ocean waters in any way. The Vista ships also have optimized hulls and propulsion systems for better fuel efficiency. Despite their huge size, they are able to access smaller ports, which are usually off-limits to big cruise ships.

Next you can watch the MSCCruisesOfficial (MSC Crociere) YouTube video release about the Bellissima ship’s unique design and exceptional features. Among the reviewed venues and facilities (as interiors) are the “Infinity Lounge & Bar”, the “Teppanyaki & Sushi” restaurant, Mediterranean-Style Steakhouse restaurant, the line’s signature “Eataly” (Italian cuisine restaurant), cafes, modern-design lounges and bars, pool deck (with a large-size outdoor LED screen), an expanded and enhanced MSC Yacht Club complex (with its own exclusive restaurant, lounge and bar, solarium – private sundeck, pool, whirlpool), children’s clubs (via partnerships with the brand companies LEGO and Chicco), “Super Amusement Park” (computer games, sports court, full-size bowling alley, Formula 1 simulators), Water Park (Himalayan Bridge, 4x waterslides, swimming pools, ropes course), promenaded deck (with a virtual sky – the longest LED dome at sea – 80 m / 262 ft). The video also reviews the ship’s cruise accommodations showing decors, color schemes and furniture details.

Passengers now can choose between cruise-long (full itinerary pricing) or per-day package deals, and select one of the following 3 offerings:
