ms AIDAperla (built 2017) is a new class vessel, and the second of two largest AIDA cruise ships – together with her sister AIDAprima (2016). The most popular fun fact about the new AIDA ships is that they are constructed in Japan. Both vessels were built by the MHI-Mitsubishi company at its Nagasaki shipyard. The AIDA Perla ship’s owner is Costa Cruises (Carnival Group’s brand line, under the management of Carnival UK). The ship’s operator is the German cruise line AIDA Kreutzfahrten. AIDAperla cabins review
AIDAperla Suites sizes are between 430-1345 ft2 (40-125 m2, categories SA, SB, SC, SD, and SP) and include as amenities private sundeck area (from 129 ft2/ 12 m2), separate sleeping area, double sofa bed, 2 bathrooms (bathrobes, slippers, luxury bath products), queen beds, pillow menu (5 different pillows), welcome package (fresh fruits, fine chocolates, champagne), 3-course Welcome Dinner (at Rossini), in-room breakfast (on request, orders from the Rossini or the steakhouse a-la-carte menus), express services (laundry, luggage, shoeshine), turn down concierge room-service, iPod docking stations, Nintendo Wii gaming consoles.
Panorama cabins are on the Patiodeck, all grouped around the covered pool area (direct access to pool deck).
The new category Lanaikabine / Lanai cabins have a private conservatory (Wintergarten), and could be with 2 bathrooms (an additional bathroom) on request. The balcony is furnitured with sunloungers, couch with cushions, a small table. The conservatory doubles as living room – Its glass door can be opened to double the patio’s size.
There are no balcony cabins on AIDA Perla, but only veranda cabin grades. Veranda cabins (categories VG and VH) have a spacious private veranda. Comfort Veranda rooms are the “family cabin” type. They are similar as size and amenities/furniture, but in addition have a double sofa bed increasing the cabin occupancy up to 4 guests.
Oceanview and Interior staterooms are with twin-beds (convertible to queen), excepting category IC rooms (with separate beds), walk-in closet, vanity table with chair, private bathroom (WC, shower cabin, sink). All staterooms are with individual air conditioning, personal safe, direct dial phone (baby monitoring option), flat TV.
Handicap / wheelchair-accessible cruise cabins
On AIDA Perla ship, the number of wheelchair accessible cabins (for disabled passengers) is 29. These staterooms are in 6 categories and located on decks 4 and 5. Follows the stateroom numbers by category:
Inside IB (4353, 4361, 4362, 4363, 4453, 4462, 4463), each is sized 19 m2, with 2 separate beds.
Oceanview MA-MB (4328, 4331, 4335, 4337, 4358, 4428, 4431, 4433, 4436, 4458) and MC-MD (4111, 4112, 4211, 4212), each is sized 22 m2, and with 2 or 3 beds.
Veranda/Balcony VH (5170, 5173, 5270, 5273, 5180, 5181, 5280, 5282), each is sized 23 m2, with 2 beds.
All disabled cabins have wider doors, turning spaces, beds with open bed frames, lowered vanity in the sitting area, amplified phones (emergency phone), captioned TVs, wider bathrooms (roll-in shower, fold-down shower bench, grab bars, lower sinks and closet rods, raised toilets, hand-held shower head).
These accommodations also feature a convenient location near the ship’s elevators.
Pepper robots
An innovative Costa and AIDA Cruises ship program will implement latest cyborg technology fleetwide. Humanoid robots will greet and guide guests upon embarkation. They will also assist passengers throughout the cruise by providing information and tips on dining (restaurants, bars), entertainment (lounges, scheduled events, presentations, promotions), tours and excursions (offered in ports of call along the cruise itinerary).
These robots (named “Pepper”) are able to communicate in 3 different languages (English, German, Italian), to move fluidly and to interpret human emotions by analyzing voice tones and face expressions.
Designed by the companies ALDEBARAN and SoftBank, Pepper was launched in Japan (June 2014) as the world’s first “emotional” robot. Its main statistics are:

The new technology was first tested on the AIDAstella ship where Pepper learned to engage with passengers and crew. The first set of robots will be introduced on the AIDA ship Perla and the Costa ship Diadema in spring 2016. By the end of summer 2016, Pepper robots will be added on all Costa and AIDA cruise ships.
AIDAperla Deck Plans Review
AIDAperla cruise ship deck plan has a total of 1643 cabins for 3286 passengers (max occupancy is 3400 guests) served by 900 crew/staff.
The AIDAperla ship has 16 passenger accessible decks (out of 18), with 12 restaurants (total size 5840 m2 / 62860 ft2), 18 bars and lounges, 3 swimming pools (plus 4 small infinity pools), 4 jacuzzies, Water Park with 2 waterslides, 10 elevators, large wellness area (sized 33400 ft2 / 3100 m2), extensive sundeck areas (total size 8050 m2 / 86650 ft2). New feature is the Skywalk – two glass elevators at the stern, each leading to a glass-floor platform located 45 m / 148 ft above sea level.
Complimentary dining options (included in AIDAperla cruise prices) are: Markt, East, Bella Donna, Fuego, Scharfe Ecke, Weite Welt.
Additional charge restaurants are Rossini, Buffalo, Sushi Bar, Brauhaus, French Kiss, Cooking Studio.
On the AIDAperla ship, drinks are included in the buffet restaurants (Markt, East, Bella Donna, Fuego, Weite Welt, all with complimentary soft drinks, plus wine and beer for lunch and dinner), and also at the French Kiss and Scharfe Ecke.

The onboard Hospital is operated by German doctors/nurses (on 24-hour duty), with Perlarily Germany-made drugs. Payments are made by the boarding pass (doubles as cabin key). Medical treatments are equivalent to a private doctor’s visit. Germany’s health insurance policies do not apply, so buying cruise health insurance is recommended.

Deck 6 is the ship’s lowest deck with and outdoor sundeck area.
Spray Bar (bow location) is an adults-only luxury lounge on 2 levels. This is also a Champagne bar operated via partnership with “Moet & Chandon” (French winery).
(Diskothek) Disco D6 (located bow-portside) is spacious venue dedicated to dancing alone, with a DJ program, themed dance parties and light shows each night. During the day, D6 hosts dance classes.
Nachtclub Nightfly (forward-starboard) is the adult-only nightclub lounge (alternative to the Anytime Bar). It has ample seating area, grand piano (resident pianist), live band music and show acts, ts own bar.
Tapas & Bar
AIDA Plaza is a 2-decks high, open-floor design Atrium lounge with bars, live entertainment (incl street artist performances), luxury boutique shopping arcade.
(Scharfe Ecke) Sharp Corner is complimentary fastfood dining venue (hotdogs, burgers, wurst and sausage specialties).

Casino has gambling tables (roulette , poker, blackjack), slot machines, Video Games Arcade. The lounge is served by the Casino Bar, and hosts daily Bingo games, poker tournaments.
Theatrium Bar
Theatrium is the 3-decks high, big-capacity show lounge with modern video-sound equipment, large stage with dynamic platforms, and a giant LED ball on its ceiling. This is a combined Atrium-Theater-Lounge that offers daily entertainment, like live music, food tastings, art auctions, trivia games. In the evenings, this is the ship’s main show venue for large-scale productions, live music, cabaret and magician shows, acrobatic and comedy acts.
East Restaurant is Asian cuisine, buffet-style restaurant (complimentary).
Ristorante Casa Nova is Mediterranean cuisine restaurant with waiter service (at surcharge).
Bella Donna Restaurant is Italian cuisine buffet-style dining venue (complimentary).
Markt Restaurant is a complimentary, self-service buffet restaurant with various food stations (stalls).

Cafe Mare is a patisserie and specialty coffee bar with blends from around the world.
(Bibliotek) Library is well-stocked (with books in Deutsch mostly), also has card and board games, puzzles, DVDs.
Theatrium (balcony level 2 of 3)
(Fotogalerie) Photo Gallery displays pictures (available for purchasing) which are made by the ship’s photographers.
(Kunstgalerie) Art Gallery sells original artworks by German artists and renowned art schools in Germany, as well as international artists and newcomers (art auctions on themed evenings).
(Kochstudio) Cooking Studio is the place for culinary classes, workshops and master chefs presentations, with a fully equipped kitchen and large tables (reservations are required). The themed food specialties are dependent on the AIDAperla itinerary routes.
Brasserie French Kiss is a reservations-only, French cuisine restaurant (at surcharge).
Brauhaus (beerhouse) is the onboard brewery selling its own draft beers (made on the ship) and made-to-order German food specialties. The Beer House is decorated with live trees and plants.
Weite Welt Restaurant (Wide World) is a complimentary buffet-style restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating.
Lanai Bar has a large outdoor seating area with bar stools, round tables with chairs, sofas. The shaded terrace is shielded with transparent glass-walls.
AIDA Perla ship has 14 service boats / lifeboats. They are also used as tender boats (each for 293 passengers), with total capacity 3300 pax (max 5000 pax).
AIDAperla Deck 8 Plan – Spa
(Freibereich) Sundeck area with loungers and deck chairs, and 4 infinity pools (two on each side of the ship) overlooking the sea.
Body & Soul Organic Spa is the ship’s huge wellness complex (sized 3100 m2 / 33400 ft2) which has indoor/outdoor pools, large jacuzzies (whirlpools), retractable glass roof cover. The list of treatments features body scrubs and wraps, Japanese Tea Ceremony. Facilities list includes 5 saunas, treatment rooms (incl for acupuncture, Thalassotherapy), Rasul bath (mud treatments), shower room, relaxation room, conservatory, SPA Bar, luxury Spa Suites (with private sundecks, waterbeds, whirlpools). AIDA’s SPA packages are for 50 min (for 1 or 2 persons, plus a family package).
AIDA Lounge (bow location) offers 270-degree panorama views from its slanted floor-ceiling windows, and is furnitured with comfortable couches and small tables.

Called “Activity Deck”, deck 14 is the deck dedicated to families.
Navigation Bridge (bow location) is inaccessible for passengers.
Mini Club provides childcare/babysitting services (at nominal fee) for toddlers and little kids (6 months to 3 yo). This is a large play room for various games and activities, with a separate baby room (nursery with beds) and a changing room.
Kids Club is the place for character meetings and greetings (AIDA Cruises themed characters are Alwine, Itzi, Dodo, Achwasachwas), special activities (parties, treasure hunts, story telling, watching movies, art-craft workshops, sports competitions, trivia games). There is a game room (with a big pirate ship), an outdoor deck area (with paddling pool, water fountains and a slide /part of the Aqua Park), kids theater, arts-crafts room. The Kids Club lounge is open until 10pm for the AIDA line’s complimentary children program for supervised activities (with morning, afternoon and evening schedule). The program offers age appropriate activities up to 6 hours (on port days) and 7 hours (on sea days). The three age groups are Seahorses (3-6 yo), Dolphins (7-9 yo) and Sharks (10-11 yo).
Fuego Restaurant is the new family restaurant, where parents can eat together with their kids. The restaurant is complimentary and has a kids buffet.
Four Elements is the ship’s Water Park (themed air-water-earth-fire). This is a huge outdoor “activity deck” area with rock climbing walls, swimming pools and whirlpools, splash pool and fountains for kids, stage for live shows, outdoor theater with huge LED screen for movies and live sports, lazy river, 2 water slides (called AIDA Racer). The whole activity deck is covered with a sliding glass roof.
Bar 5 Elements serves the Aqua Park complex.
Cabins from 14103 to 14444, of which Inside cabins (cat IA, 4x connecting), Balcony rooms (VG, 3-/4-bed, 16x connecting), Balcony Comfort (cat VA-VB-VC, 3-/4-bed, walk-in closet, 2 baths, extra space).
AIDAperla Deck 15 Plan
AIDA Bar is cocktail bar with dance floor, live band music in the evenings.
AIDA Beach Club is 2-decks high, adults-only and covered with a glass dome relaxation oasis ((sized 2800 m2 / 30150 ft2) providing a tropical beach-like experience. The 2-level complex is decorated with live plants and palm trees, and has its own bar, swimming pool, 2 large-size whirlpools, exclusive sunbathing area with loungers, hammocks, relaxation beds. In the evenings, the Beach Club transforms into a party zone, featuring a virtual night sky and laser shows (projected on the dome), live music, differently themed music parties each evening.
(Sonnendeck – Freibereich) Sun Deck games area (shuffleboard, giant chess, backgammon, Boccia, darts, table tennis).
Pool Bar is a poolside poolside bar & grill.serving the sunbathing area with fast food and drinks.
Mini Golf course
Wave Club is a water playground and the alternative for the HYPE teens club lounge. The club offers supervised activities for 2 age groups – Orcas (12 -13 yo) and Teens (14 -17 yo). The lounge has a video games arcade (pinball machines, gaming consoles, air hockey, slot machines), billiard tables, vending machines (drinks, snacks). The teen club’s activities are also scheduled (morning, afternoon, evening) and vary depending on the AIDAperla itinerary route.

(Joggingparcours) Power Walking/Jogging Track

AIDAperla Deck 16 Plan
Patiodeck is an exclusive, adult-only, covered deck area for Panorama cabins guests only. The Patio Deck has 2 whirpools. It is served with drinks by its own Patio Bar, and offers amazing seaviews from the ship’s bow.
AIDA Beach Club (balcony level 2 of 2, with sunloungers). The deck layout shows its UV-transparent glass roof (called “Foliendom”).
(Sportsdeck) The Sports Deck has a combined court (volleyball/basketball), Golf Cage, golf simulator, golf putting green area.
