DELANO —Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit arrested a 55-year-old woman who was in possession of a large amount of marijuana worth approximately $476,000.



Parking lot where drug bust occurred

According to a press release, on Friday, Aug. 16, at approximately 2:00 p.m., deputies detained Angela Hernandez after a search of the white Ford Explorer she was driving turned up approximately 105 pounds of processed marijuana in a Delano parking lot west of Highway 99 and Woollomes Avenue.

The marijuana was packaged into 105 individually sealed one-pound bags.

Hernandez was subsequently arrested and transported to the Kern County Jail where she faces charges for possession for sales of marijuana and other charges.

The sheriff’s department said the bust was part of an ongoing investigation by K.N.E.T. (Kern Narcotics Enforcement Team), Cal-MMET (California Multi-jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team), HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area), and the Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit Special Operations Group.
