Investigators in Pennsylvania are working to figure out how an 8-year-old  boy could be dead, decomposing inside his own home and his own mother claims she had no idea. It’s an outrageous story and one Penn Live has taken an in-depth look to.

The Tutko family had six children, and according to Penn Live, many of the neighbors say they never even knew that many kids lived inside the house. On Friday, 8-year-old Jarrod Jr. was found dead on the third floor of the home.

Now, 38-year-old Jarrod Tutko is charged with concealing a death of a child, abuse of a corpse and child endangerment. Penn Live says his wife, Kimbery Tutko, was not told about the death until days later and “when the odor of decomposition became too strong.”

Kimberly says she lived for her children, according to Penn Live, even quitting both of her jobs and, “She is adamant that she had no idea that her son, Jarrod, was dead in his upstairs room. Not until her husband on Friday came down with his body and laid it on the bathroom floor.” She went on to say the reason she never visited her son upstairs in his room (since 2010) is because she did not want to bring any bacteria from the room down to her sick daughter. Kimberly also says Jarrod Jr. was very difficult to control and her husband was very violent.

According to the report, Kimberly claims she spent most of her time on the second floor caring for one of their daughters who needs around the clock care, while her husband was supposed to provide sole care for Jarrod Jr.

After the discovery of the body,Newsday says the other five children were immediately removed and placed in protective custody. As for the cause of death, an autopsy has to be performed.

According to Penn Live, when Kimberly asked her husband why he didn’t say anything, he told her he was too afraid.
