PTC Creo View MCAD is a powerful, yet easy-to-use visualization tool that teams can use to review, inspect, mark up, and validate designs, without a seat of CAD software. It brings 3D product models, assemblies, images, 2D drawings, and documents to people working in roles like manufacturing, management, documentation, and purchasing. Add the PTC Creo View MCAD Interference Analysis extension, and your extended team will be able to check for clearances and clashes as a product design comes together and even share detailed reports with those who can solve them.
Sounds like a great idea, but how are real-life companies using it? We asked some of them, and here’s what we found:
BAE Systems Reduced Time to Market by 57%
BAE Systems is a prime government contractor for manned ground vehicles. These technology-driven, mine repellant, armor-protected trucks mix complex engineering with critical ballistic welding. The company uses PTC Creo View to visualize numerous vehicle variants for a troop transport, Special Operations Command (SOCOM), hospital, tow, and recovery vehicles. This enables BAE and their customers to assess issues and potential problems before the first piece of metal is ever cut.
Over the past 10 years, the company has aggressively worked to streamline its development processes and cut time to market. With PTC Creo View MCAD as part of the overall solution, BAE says it rolls out products 57% faster now.

SMS Siemag Improves Operations
SMS Siemag is a leader in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the steel and non-ferrous metals processing industry. For example, here’s an animation of an aluminum rolling mill designed by the company.
The company uses PTC Creo View MCAD and the PTC Creo View MCAD Interference Analysis extension to validate 3D plant designs. “With the aid of the high-performance PTC Creo View software in the field of large assembly units and clash detection, we shortened our processes and enhanced the quality of our plants and the satisfaction of our customers,” says Ralf Kiedrowski, head of the CAD department.

PACCAR Speeds Design Reviews and Improves Communications
How do you share a truck with millions of parts and as many as 19,000 variants with your team members and management? And what if they aren’t CAD experts? At PACCAR, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of heavy-duty trucks (think Kenworth, DAF, and Peterbilt), the answer is PTC Creo View MCAD and an integration with the company’s PLM system, PTC Windchill.
PACCAR says that since teams started using PTC Creo View MCAD, they get through design reviews faster and with better understanding. They provide more detail in this recorded webinar. Listen to find out how the visualization tool can help teams collaborate across sites, find clearance problems in a complex model, and even share review files (safely) with a simple email link.
Larsen and Taubro Simplifies Complex Communications
At Larsen & Toubro Engineered Tooling Solutions, a leading tool company in Mumbai, engineers design, machine, and fabricate everything from jigs to die cast dies, using a variety of CAD and CAM systems. You can find Larsen & Toubro tools in automobile, electrical, medical, electronics, and computer peripherals. Using PTC Creo View MCAD, teams all visualize 3D data from any CAD tool, as well as drawings, images, and documents—all without the native authoring application.
The data loads fast and accurately, so team members can confidently view and interrogate the designs. Plus they can cross-section, explode, and leave comments with a full set of annotation tools.
Larsen and Taubro provides turnkey solutions to oil & gas exploration, production, processing, and transportation.
You can easily share your design data with your tooling, manufacturing and assembly teams too. Start today by encouraging them to Download PTC Creo View Express for Windows®.
