I admit it does sound a little over the top when us beauty bloggers use odd words in our titles or weekly/monthly posts. Why on earth name it Makeup Graveyard instead of just "used up mascaras"? Do we wanna make it sound a little more...fancy? I guess I should stop with my silly ramblings and get on with the actual post.
For the past few months I have accumulated a few mascaras that I used up to the point where there is nothing else to do with them. Now, I decided it was time to finally throw them away since they've been part of my makeup collection since last year. YES, LAST YEAR. According to some legend you're supposed to throw away your mascara after 6-8 weeks but I never really listened to that rule. I take care of my makeup area, keep it hygienic and every product lasts a very long time. Even when a mascara is dried out I still have uses for it, like brushing my eyebrows when I'm out of my brow gel. I can't be the only that does this?!
Mascara is one of the must-have items in my daily makeup routine because it instantly opens up my eyes and makes me a look less tired. That's one of the reasons I go through them like crazy. I decided it would be cool to share them with y'all as I go through a wide variety so that you can see if any of those are to be put in your "must buy" list or not. I like to try both voluminous and lengthening mascaras. I have no major preference in wands so I am really open to trying everything.
Eyeko "Eye Do"
Out of the 4 I'll be featuring today this is my favourite one. It gives you both length and volume. It has good properties thanks to the botanical infused formula. The way the brush is designed makes it easy to pick even the smaller lashes in the inner corner. It also comes with a guitar pick that helps you avoid getting product on the lid. This specific mascara came in the Alexa Chung collection and I did do an in-depth review of the whole package down below.
Bourjois "Elastic"
My mum came home one day with this in her purse and it wasn't love at first sight. The wand looked so skinny and weak that I thought: "This will never make me look great" however I was wrong. If you use a clumpy mascara before hand you can use this bad boy to get rid of the mess. It's also great as a lengthening mascara for a super natural "no makeup" look. Not to mention how amazing it's for the bottom lashes. An overall winner for me.
Clinique "High Impact"
As you can see this is a travel size version. I got it when I was buying some skincare from the Clinique counter. I didn't think much of it even though the lady did tell me it's one of their best selling products. The wand is very dense but interestingly enough it never clumps up! I love how it never gets too much product out and applies it evenly on my lashes. It has the staying power of a waterproof mascara even though it isn't one. I really like it and I'm sure I'll purchase the full version at some point.
L'Oreal "Miss Manga"
The horror. I am probably the only blogger out there not raving about this mascara. It's clumpy, more difficult to apply because of the "bendy" wand (you can bend it 360 degrees around) and hey, it made my eyes super irritated. Probably the worst mascara I have ever tried. I was so disappointed. If it didn't irritate my eyes it could have barely passed but it's not something I would run and re-purchase or highly recommend on my blog. Sorry.
So that's it! I hope you enjoyed this post and found it useful. More will come in the future. Let me know what mascaras I should try - both drugstore and high-end and let me know if you tried any of the ones I featured in this post!
xoxo
