The organisers of Drupal Camp North West, North West Drupal User Group (NWDUG) in partnership with Salford University, have revealed that the leading speaker at this highly-anticipated event will be the self-proclaimed ‘King of Drupal’ and general hell-raiser, Morten DK.

Renowned for his eye-catching presentations (not to mention his even more colourful turn of phrase), this is a rare opportunity to catch the charismatic speaker whose appearances draw in the crowds and usually guarantee standing room only. He will be delivering his session, ‘The Angry Themer’, a guide to surviving as a progressive themer in the world of Drupal.

Morten is joined by Drupal expert and founder of two Drupal-centric businesses, Josh Koenig whose infectious enthusiasm has made him an active force in the Drupal community since 2003. Josh will be delivering his session ‘Drupal’s Destiny’ from California via Google Hangout and promises to share his vision of Drupal’s future with his audience at Drupal Camp NW.

It has also been revealed that there will be a Drupal Twig Code Sprint at the event forming part of the global initiative to get Drupal Twig completed before the Drupals Feature freeze on 1st December. A flexible, fast and secure template engine for PHP, Twig has the potential to revolutionise Drupal’s theming layer. The Twig Code Sprint is a fantastic opportunity for Drupal enthusiasts, regardless of their ability, to play a part in the building of Drupal 8 and make a significant difference.

An event co-organiser comments: “This is a great chance to be a part of Drupal 8’s history and work shoulder to shoulder with some of Drupal’s leading lights. Again, this emphasises the inclusive approach of the open source community and exemplifies why visitors get so much from these events. Tickets are going fast and we are looking forward to healthy attendance figures – particularly in light of who our speakers are.”

The weekend event will run from 24th to 25th November at the prestigious Salford University MediaCity campus in Salford Quays and welcomes anyone interested in Drupal, from curious beginners right through to designers, developers and business owners. Key sponsors include Livelink, Hydrant, Code Enigma, Ixis, CTI, Access Digital and Tigerfish.

On Friday 23rd November, the venue will play host to Drupal Camp’s sister event, ‘Drupal Means Business’ aimed at companies and organisations of all sizes to introduce them to Drupal.
