The Crafts Council, operating as the British Crafts Council within an international context, will take a group of contemporary craft makers, gallery owners and educators to the design fair - Design Days Dubai - from 18-21 March 2013.

The Crafts Council supports the creative and commercial growth of individual craft makers, galleries and craft organisations from Britain. And with the support of UK Trade & Investment it will take four leading commercial galleries and a mission of high-profile advocates to Design Days Dubai.

Eighteen makers, all of whom are based in Britain, will be represented by Gallery Libby Sellers, Gallery SO, Marsden Woo Gallery and Vessel Gallery. Makers include Max Lamb, David Clarke, Simone ten Hompel, Peter Marigold and Martin Smith.

Full list of galleries and makers are as follows:

Gallery Libby Sellers; Fabien Cappello, Fredrikson Stallard, Simon Hasan, Max Lamb, Peter Marigold and Rolf Sachs.

Gallery SO; David Clarke, Michael Rowe, Hans Stofer and Simone ten Hompel

Marsden Woo Gallery; Ken Eastman, Chun Liao, Robert Marsden, Martin Smith

Vessel Gallery; Heather Gillespie, Simon Moore, George Papadopoulos and Liam Reeves

The Crafts Council will also contribute to the Design Days Dubai talks and film public programme in order to provide an educational, cultural and commercial perspective on British contemporary craft.

The Crafts Council is exploring its export potential to the emerging markets of the Middle East and Asia whilst continuing its domestic activity, including COLLECT: the international art fair for contemporary objects, at the Saatchi Gallery, London, from 10 -13 May 2013.

Rosy Greenlees, executive director at Crafts Council, said: “British craft makers combine excellent knowledge of their material with a high level of technical skill, creativity and innovation. It is authentic, unique, highly collectible and respected worldwide. We are looking forward to taking a mission to Design Days Dubai in order to help realise the full export and investment potential of British craft."
