“In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines.” And if, by this point, you just couldn’t guess, we’re taking about Madeline on Birthday Express!

We have a reason to celebrate Madeline – this year marks the 75th anniversary of the classic and beloved children’s books by Ludwig Bemelmans. Fun fact: he came up with the original sketch for the character on the back of a café menu, after seeing a line of schoolgirls cross the street in Paris.

We didn’t come up with the idea for our Madeline birthday party supplies in quite the same way, but keep reading here to see our party ideas!

Our Madeline Party in a Box is the ultimate package of Madeline party supplies. Planning a birthday party for kids has never been easier: select the amount of guests to expect, and the perfect party package appears before your eyes. You can always adjust the numbers to ensure there are enough Madeline plates, napkins, and cups to go around.

Madeline always loved having fun, and that’s what this party theme is all about! All of these party supplies and decorations come with a pre-coordinated color scheme of bright blues, reds, and yellows. This makes it easy to accessorize and build upon with matching solid color and chevron party supplies, and decorations let you craft a unique experience as well. Create an extra special birthday balloon bouquet with blue polka dots and our Madeline foil balloon. There’s no such thing as too much crepe paper, either!

This cardboard Eiffel Tower Madeline centerpiece brings a fabulous French feeling to any party, and it’s super easy to assemble, too. If you like, craft a sweeter centerpiece to go alongside it with colorful candy and a glass jar – ours is made of red gumballs, yellow and white Sixlets, and some swirly red Whirly Pops.

Speaking of sweets, every birthday needs cupcakes! We used some more Sixlets to decorate them, but the Madeline cupcake boxes are what really make them special.

How cute are these little cookies? Yellow-frosted sugar cookies can be made to look just like Madeline’s signature sun hat. Once you’ve topped your two different sizes of circles with fondant, stick them together with royal icing and pipe a thin ribbon of black around where they meet. Finish it off with a cute bow! Macaroons that are colored half-blue and half-red also work with the Madeline color scheme perfectly.

This piñata looks just like Madeline’s hat, too – the black crepe paper gives it the perfect look! Fill it up with your child’s favorite sweets let the kids go to town. Or, to make things even easier, you can purchase this item as a piñata kit, with included blindfold, stick, and – of course – candy.

Birthday fun and games all end eventually, but party favors guarantee that each child goes home with a smile on their face! Our Madeline party favor boxes include finger puppets, stickers, crayons, and other goodies, but you can also stuff some empty boxes with whatever you wish. Either way, it’ll make for a special ending to a special day!
