String up some balloons for an easy garland.

Credit goes to Emily from Joyful Abode for this party idea, which she calls the “easiest balloon garland ever.” She’s not wrong! Simply thread a length yarn through the knots of some inflated balloons, and hang. As an alternate idea, she also suggests bunching balloons together in threes before threading them. View both tutorials on her blog here.

Use paint to make boring balloons beautiful.

Kelly from Studio DIY blew up a few balloons with helium, and splattered them with gold paint to get this look. Of course, it doesn’t have to be gold paint – use whatever works best for your color scheme. When Halloween rolls around again, you could even use red paint for a spooky and scary look!

Or, use glitter and confetti for a more sparkly effect.

Here’s another one from Kelly, and here’s the link to her tutorial. Brush some decoupage glue or apply some spray adhesive to the bottoms of inflated balloons, and sprinkle your favorite color confetti onto it! Partially related bonus fact: a single piece of confetti is called a confetto.

You can also decoupage other designs onto balloons.

In this tutorial by Haeley of Design Improvised, tissue paper hearts are lovingly added onto white helium balloons. With the same technique, you can create any design you want! Make paper snowflakes for a Frozen party, or add some colorful masks to green balloons for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles party.

Not every party balloon decoration requires helium.

We actually did a double take at first, but it turns out that air-filled balloons hung from the ceiling just look like a bouquet of helium-filled balloons set on the floor. The difference is that their overhead chandelier effect leaves way more room for partying! Credit goes to Lindsey of The Pleated Poppy for the idea.

You don’t always need air, either!

Turn a plain craft store wreath into a fun burst of color in this tutorial from Hoosier Homemade. They went for a rainbow look with six equal sections, but let your creativity run wild!

Bunches of balloons are bunches of fun.

These cool clusters are held together with cable ties and then tied to a single, central string. Hang them from the ceiling at varying heights, or fill them with helium. Learn how to make your own on Broadview Heights.

You can also make giant balloon flowers with the same idea.

With markings on the darker pink balloons made with black tape, and light pink balloon in the center, these balloons look just like huge cherry blossoms! The full how-tos for this adorable DIY balloon craft are available on Paperglitter.com

Give any balloon a giant tassel.

Strings and ribbons are so overdone when it comes to tying up balloons. With this idea from Wedding Chicks, you turn the string into part of the decorations, too! Multi-colored crepe paper, after a meeting with some fringe scissors, dresses up a giant helium balloon beautifully.

We’ve save the sweetest for last. Brown construction paper or the free printable from Prudent Baby can be folded into the cone in seconds. Thread the ribbon of a helium balloon through the bottom to create this decorating treat!
