Domestic sales for non-alcoholic beverages in Malaysia tracked stable growth from 2010 – 2016, recording total ex-factory sales of RM 4.2 billion in 2010 which grew to RM 8.4 billion in 2016 at a CAGR of 12.12%.

Soft drinks recorded RM 3.7 billion in ex-factory sales in 2010 which grew to RM 7.5 billion in 2016 at a CAGR of 11.72%, a rate almost mirroring the total, which is explained by the fact that soft drinks are the main contributor in the non-alcoholic beverage manufacturing subsector.

Bottled water recorded RM 386 million in ex-factory sales in 2010 which grew to RM 923 million in 2016 at a CAGR of 15.64%, outpacing the growth of soft drinks due to a global change in beverage preference as consumers opt for less sugary drinks.
