What we have been up to
Gary and I have been busy making cots for dolls for two of our Granddaughters for Christmas, Gary made them and I painted them. I think we make a good team! Below are a few pictures of the finished cots.
Hopefully we will have two happy little girls!
These are just so cute I absolutely love them!
Hedgehog in my garden
Whilst clearing and cutting back the plants and shrubs, Gary inadvertently uncovered a hedgehog that was hibernating in our garden. I rang the British Hedgehog Society and asked their advice and they told me that it would survive if it was the size of a Guinea Pig or larger.
It was big enough so we moved it to a safe place in our garden for it continue its sleep for the winter. Below is a photograph of it. As you can see it is now safely relocated in my plastic box in a sheltered part of the garden, all covered up with leaves and snug.
autumn is here
Craftypoly's freebie colour palette
Below I have made a few colour palettes out of the photographs of my garden. I love these fiery autumnal colours.

Renovation of the garage
When we brought the house the garage was in a poor state of repair.
The roof needed reinforcing because it was bowing and liable to collapse.
We decided that we needed to get this job done before the bad winter weather comes in to keep the garage and its contents safe.
Gary had to use acroprops to support the roof during works, however he has now reinforced the timbers and the roof is safe.
The two windows in the garage were in a bad state of repair, with huge cracks in them, so Gary decided to take them out, and replace them by putting in a rear access door and a smaller window at the side.
Gary and his builder friend Roy spent the weekend of the 19th and 20th November 2016 doing just that.
Unfortunately I could not do a lot to help except to go and collect supplies and bring plenty of tea and coffee and sandwiches out to them.
Below are pictures of the renovation.
The door was a Christmas Present from my son Dion, thank you so much Dion we really appreciate it! and I brought Gary the window as a Christmas Present. I know its not very personal, but it will definately make life a lot easier for us both, becasue we have a chest freezer in the garage and it is a pain having to keep opening the roller door at the front of the garage.
Below you can see the reinforcement of the rafters.

Days out
My friend Jacquie and I went to Cotehele to see the Christmas Garland and to listen to Carol Singing.
The Liskeard Lady Singers singing Christmas Carols in the great Hall.
The beautiful 60ft Christmas garland using estate-grown flowers was made up from flowers grown in the gardens and dried, below are some of the dried flowers which made up the garland.
The Yuletide tradition of decking the Tudor Hall with a garland began in the 1950s. I am fortunate enough to live relatively close and I make it my business to go to see the garland every year when I can.
I was amazed at the fabulous animals that had been made using hazel wood, and docorrated the grounds.
Beautiful Christmas Trees.
