Simple & Inexpensive St. Patrick’s Day Classroom Party
Do you love celebrating the holiday’s with your kids? Are you a room mom or dad? If so today’s post is perfect for you! Keep reading for some Simple & Inexpensive St. Patrick’s Day Classroom Party ideas.
This year I partnered with Oriental Trading Company to come up some super simple and inexpensive ideas to put together a fun classroom party! These ideas could definitely transfer to a party at home or with any kids organizations.
4 Elements for an Awesome St. Patrick’s Day Classroom Party
Craft or activity
Festive paper goods (napkins, cups, straws, plates)
Festive snack and drink
Fun prizes or Goodie Bags (stickers, chocolate coins)
Fun themed decor (optional)
1. Craft of Activity
This can be as simple or as complicated as you want. My kids are in Kindergarten and First Grade so I wanted a basic craft that the kids could do without much help. I picked a cute Happy St. Patrick’s Day banner from Oriental Trading Company – it isn’t available right now but take a peek at all of these other great kits you can get! I love that the set I ordered has 12 kits in it and that they are all individually packaged so I don’t have to sort through all of the pieces. If you are looking for some additional craft or activity ideas take a look at some of the other fun we have had in our house:
St. Patrick’s Day Nonsense Words
Paper Plate Leprechaun Mask with Handprint Beard
Rainbow Painting
Shamrock Eraser Stamped T-shirts
St. Patrick’s Day Playdough
Shamrock Cutouts
2. Festive Paper Goods
The little details matter when it comes to making a party fun for kids (or anyone for that matter!). Purchase themed plates, napkins, straws and make the party an instant success. I picked up some generic green paper cups and dressed them up with St. Patrick’s Day stickers. Add in a green drink (you could use green milk or a green juice) with a St. Patrick’s Day Straw and the kids are happy!
3. Festive Snack or Drink
For this party I bought a big jug of green juice – one jug will serve the whole class. You could also use water – the cups and straws make the drink fun by themselves! If you are doing a smaller scale party at home you could make Shamrock Shakes (one of my favorite milkshakes and the only reason I willing visit a certain fast food restaurant!).
For a snack I made Mini Green Velvet Chocolate Chip Muffins (recipe coming soon!). Kids love mini muffins because it means they can have two instead of just one! Take a peek at a few more options below:
Shamrock Shake Cake
Luck of the Irish Mickey Mouse Pops
Rainbow and Pot of Gold Brownies
4. Fun Prizes
Kids love to go home with a fun prize or gift. For a classroom party I think the kids don’t expect to receive something but get so excited to have things to take home with them. For this party I bought some St. Patrick’s Day stickers and chocolate coins for the kids to take home. Since I bought these items in bulk from Oriental Trading Company the cost ended up being very minimal! This element is optional but really makes kids happy!
5. Fun Themed Decor (optional)
For parties at home I always decorate but for classroom parties that is much more difficult to accomplish unless you go into the school early in the morning or in the afternoon (with the teacher’s permission of course). Fun St. Patrick’s Day themed decor would be a bonus and definitely add to the atmosphere.
My best advice for having a party with kids is to be relaxed and watch them have fun! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
