CPYO, FMR TO PRESENT CLASSIC RECONCILIATION CONCERT IN MITCHELL’S PLAIN

The Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra’s concert of reconciliation through harmony and music will take place on December 16 at  Yellow Wood Primary School in Mitchell’s Plain at 14:00.

The CPYO is collaborating with Fine Music Radio who will transport concertgoers from Cape Town to Mitchell’s Plain and back, and NNI Ignite, the South African non-profit organization that ignites and facilitates transformational dialogue across the nation and heals divided communities, to provide an opportunity to get together in a spirit of peace and reconcilation.  The conductor will be German maestro Thomas Lange.

FMR announcer and CPO pre-concert talk presenter Rodney Trugeon will give an illuminating talk at 13.15 at Yellowwood Primary about the works on the programme  which will include prize-winning pianist Leo Gevisser  (14), in his interpretation of the Mozart Piano Concerto No.12, K 414. Also on the programme are Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Bartók’s Rumanian Folk Songs.  The piano will be supplied by Ian Burgess-Simpson.

Tickets for this benefit concert which includes transport and snacks are R150 and can be obtained through www.fmr.co.za.  R50 tickets will be sold at the door for this benefit concert for CPYO and  NNI Ignite.

The Classic Reconciliation concert celebrates the culmination of a five-day workshop on sound-oriented bodywork, offered by Resonance Training , which is being used to help musicians fulfil their artistic potential by releasing or preventing tension and pain.  Combined with NNI dialogue, this knowledge enables the experiences the players enjoy in the workshop to be transferred from orchestra playing into everyday life.

Conductor Thomas Lange, founder of Resonance Training, is a widely respected conductor and teacher. The course has been described by musicians of NDR Radio Orchestra in Hamburg as by “far the best of all courses around musical body work that has ever been delivered“.

An NNI dialogue for all audience members will be facilitated at Artscape on Wednesday December 14th 5:30pm-9pm. This is an important part of the event (included in ticket) and we invite the whole audience to come and experience a transformative NNI dialogue in the true spirit of personal and collective reconciliation.
