Hey everyone! So PAX Prime just recently ended this year. It was a 4 day convention that ran from August 30th till September 2nd. As most of you know PAX is a convention revolving around video games both by mainstream developers and also indie developers. The Charisma Plus 2 girls, Jordan, Gina and Dollie (myself) were working the convention, representing Corsair and Origin PC. Needless to say we all had an amazing time working and participating in the convention, but not a lot of you know what goes on behind the scenes. So here is a little bit about the day in the life of an Exhibitor and all the fun things we did throughout the convention weekend. :)The PAX convention opens its doors at 10am to the public, but little do you all know, the exhibitors and enforcers are already hard at work to make the day an amazing experience for everyone.

We arrive early in the morning a couple hours before the doors open. This gives us time to prep the booth and make sure everything is running smoothly when you guys come and visit us! Corsair also had us plan a Labor Day Egg Hunt, so Jordan, Gina and I had to be

sure we were there early enough to run around the area and hide all our eggs. There were so many awesome places where we could put them, from holes in the wall, to corners by doors, and even in some of the computers in the BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) area. In the eggs we were hiding there were many prizes from keyboards, mice, headsets, T-shirts and mouse pads. For me hiding the eggs was one of my favorite things to do because it let me get creative and be super sneaky!

During the day we ran tournaments every half hour. The tournament was a 8 vs 8 man/ woman Counter

One of our Counter Strike winners

Strike game, with the MVP of each game getting an awesome prize. We had so many people turn out and line up to play in the tournament. It was a lot of fun watching the players gaming, it was also fun once the warm-up round was over to see how intense some of the players got when they were bouncing between first and second place. During the first couple days we gave super awesome Corsair PAX shirts out to everyone who participated in the tournament, but like all huge conventions go, we ended up having way more participation than we had expected and on the last day were out of shirts :(. I am generally a track pad player and during the freeplay hours when we were not running the tournament I even gave the game a try. It was a fun game to play but I think I will have to stick to my track pad still; the mouse is not my forte at all.

Along with the Counter Strike tournaments, we also had two more competitions that we held throughout the weekend. At noon everyday we held a karaoke singing competition and surprisingly the first day we did it we

Jarvan IV from League of Legends

had gotten a lot more volunteers than we expected, which made it even better. The karaoke competition was a little different that what you would expect for karaoke. Instead of everyone hearing the music while the person sang, they actually had to wear a headset so they were the only ones listening to the music. So it was almost like a karaoke acapella competition than just normal karaoke. It was so funny listening to people sing without actually hearing the music behind them, but everyone that got up there and sang were very brave, I know I wouldn’t be able to do that without being terrified inside!

The last competition we had was at 3pm each day and it was our cosplay competition. To me this was the coolest competition we has because there were so many people at the convention in cosplay and it made it really hard to decide who the winner was of each round we did. The costumes people come up with and are able to create are amazing. We had everyone from League of Legends champions, to DoTA, and even people

dressed up as TV characters. There were a lot of awesome people who entered their cosplay and everyone that dressed up at the convention deserves a round of applause because having the cosplay community running around made the convention even better than if they weren’t there.

When the competitions weren’t running we were all busy handing out flyers and getting people involved in our booth. Corsair and Origin PC teamed up to create an awesome computer in which they had in a sweepstakes for people at the convention to win. The computer was retailed at around $3500 and was black and red, made with an Obsidian Series 350D Micro ATX case, Hydro Series H100i, 2x Neutron GTX 240GB SSDs, 32GB of Vengeance Pro memory, AX860i PSU, Corsair Link RGB LED lighting kit, Air Series 120mm fans, Corsair red individually sleeved PSU cable kit, Vengeance M65 mouse, Vengeance K70 keyboard,

Sweepstakes PC

Vengeance 1500 headset, Intel 4770K CPU, ASUS VI GENE MB, 2x ASUS GTX680 GPUs. Without a doubt this computer was an awesome prize and we made sure we got everyone entered to have the opportunity to win this awesome machine.

After working PAX Prime it was hard to want it to be over. There was so much fun to be had and everyone was great to work with and be around. The weekend just flew by and it was hard to get on the plane home after the last day, wishing that there was just one more day left to spend there. I had an amazing time working with the team from Corsair and Origin PC. Not to mention also working with the fantastic Charisma Plus 2 ladies Jordan and Gina. If it wasn’t for these people the booth would have not been a success and the convention itself would not have been such a blast. Although I have to admit walking in the door on the first day and seeing everything for the first time was the most overwhelming moment there for me. Even with PAX Prime at a close for this year I can gladly say I cannot wait for next year and be apart of this awesome scene again. It was one weekend that I will never forget and even more so an experience I can’t wait to share with everyone again.

See you in 2014 PAX Prime!
