Kate Moss has landed a deal to design a fashionable range of phone accessories.
The 39-year-old supermodel confirmed she is creating a technology-focused accessories collection with the UK’s largest mobile retailer Carphone Warehouse today.
The ‘fashion tech’ line is aimed at women and will launch this summer featuring snazzy cases and add-ons for smartphones and tablets.
“My phone’s as much a part of my look as my bag or shoes, and yet there’s so little choice out there,” Kate explained about her decision to partner with the brand.
The Kate Moss Accessories Collection will fuse the British icon’s natural style sensibility with the very latest mobile technology.
The face of Versace and ambassador for Rimmel cosmetics, worked closely with the retailer’s design team to turn her ideas into reality.
“My whole approach was to treat this as any other fashion collaboration; I was heavily involved in the design process and loved seeing my vision come to life in the final product,” she continued. “From the quality of materials to the design, I wanted the best for my range that reflected my personal style.”
This isn’t Kate’s first association with mobile phones. In 2005, Virgin Mobile announced the online premiere of its new advert starring the supermodel.
However, this new collaboration is her debut at designing for the devices as well as fronting them.
Marketing director at Carphone Warehouse, Julian Diment, is confident about the company’s new signing.
“We looked at the accessory ranges available today and found that consumers were crying out for something different,” Julian explained. “Fashion tech blurs the lines between fashion and technology, and Kate Moss is the perfect match for us to drive forward integration and creativity from the two industries.”
