The NFL Combine kicks off next week in Indianapolis and the Los Angeles Chargers staff will be on hand. As new head coach Anthony Lynn and general manager Tom Telesco prepare for their first combine together the focus will be on improving the roster at a variety of positions.
A season removed from 5-11 in a year that saw multiple late game collapses, the Chargers will have the No. 7 pick of the NFL Draft. Guaranteed a Top-10 pick the Chargers should be getting one of the best prospects in the country.
As players arrive at Lucas Oil Stadium they will be evaluated both psychologically and physically over the course of the week. Teams will have interviews and be witness to a variety of athletic performance test in order to help determine the newest members of their respective franchises.
Lynn and Telesco will be paying close attention to a few different groups as they cycle through over the week and weekend. Los Angeles could use immediate improvements on the offensive side of the football and on the back end of the defense. When offensive linemen, wide receivers, and defensive backs are on the field fans hoping to see the newest member of the Chargers should pay close attention.

Another prospect group that could house a future Charger includes quarterback. Franchise quarterback Philip Rivers is under contract through the 2019 season and could play the role of mentor while still leading the team over the next couple of seasons.
The propensity to select a quarterback now may feel a little early, depending on the round, but plans for an improved future leave this year as the projected earliest possible time for selection. Even if not picked in round one.
Despite being characterized as a weak class, the quarterback position is coveted and cannot be passed on if a good situation presents itself when Los Angeles in on the clock.
