Fairs & Festivals:

Swiss Days (Santa Clara) – September 23-28 includes a parade, entertainment, children’s activities and more.

Harvest Festival & Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off (Lehi) – Saturday, September 28 from 10am-4pm at Thanksgiving Point. Visitors are encouraged to hang out for a while at the kid’s free activity tent and enjoy the sound of music drifting through the air, or hop on a train ride (for a nominal fee). The Harvest Festival is free to the public, and is an excellent way to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of fall.

Sundance Harvest Market – Saturday, September 28 at 8841 N Alpine Loop Road. Keeping with Sundance’s commitment to the arts and nature, the Harvest Market features musical entertainment, amazing food, and a myriad of artistic hand crafted items.  The brilliant fall foliage amid the splendor of Mt. Timpanogos provides a beautiful backdrop for this event each year. This is free to attend.

Multicultural Festival (West Jordan) – Saturday, September 28 from 11am-3pm at the Viridian Event Center (1825 W 8030 S). Celebrating our diverse community and cultural traditions, the festival will include musicians, dancers, artisans, crafts, vendors and community groups. This is a free event.

Provo River Watershed Festival (Midway) – Saturday, September 28 from 10am-2pm at Wasatch Mountain State Park Visitors Center & Huber Grove. This is a FREE event with live music, dancing, food concessions, tours, geocaching, wildlife presentations, fishing, dutch oven cooking demos, cowboy poetry and more.

Zion Canyon Music Festival – September 27-28 full of music, food, arts and crafts – Free to attend!

Saturday, September 28 is a  FREE National Park Entrance Days For! Entry is free to any of the National Parks listed here.

Open Streets (Taylorsville) – Saturday, September 28 from 11am-4pm from City Hall on 2700 W 5400 S to Taylorsville Library (4900 S). Temporarily closes streets to cars, allowing residents to walk, bike, skate, dance and more. There will be free activities, booths, vendors, food trucks, and more.

Cancer Awareness Expo ( Sandy) – September 28 from 10am-3pm at South Towne Expo Center. Free to the public – join for a day of learning, activities, and hearing from medical experts on a variety of cancer-related topics. Included are free skin cancer screenings, free clinical breast exams, free oral cancer screenings and more.

Coneys Frozen Custard 10 Year Celebration (Orem) – Saturday, September 28 on University Parkway in Orem. There will be free custard cones from 12-8pm and a free carnival from 12-4pm that will include carnival games, jump houses, giveaways and more. (Thanks@EnjoyUtah)

Snowbird’s Oktoberfest runs every Saturday & Sunday from August 17-October 13. Admission is free. This event is full of music, dancing, and traditional German cuisine. Kids can enjoy face painting, caricature artist, inflatable rides, and more.

Prepardeness Fair – September 27 & 28 at the Natural History Museum of Utah. Don’t miss this opportunity  to gather resources and information for your own preparedness planning. Event is included in the price of admission.

Museum Day – Saturday, September 9 - Museum Day is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket…for free.

Only an official Museum Day ticket is eligible for free entry.

One ticket per household, for two people.

A ticket will gain entry to only one of the participating museums, excluding parking and special events and exhibits.

If museum reaches capacity, museum has right to limit the number of guests until space becomes available.

MOA Family Workshops (Provo) – Saturdays in September at BYU Museum of Art – Jeanette Klute: Pioneer of Color.  On any one Saturday of their choice families can take a guided tour of a current exhibition and create a fun, hands-on art project, free of charge.

Utah Philharmonica: CODA Composition Contest – Saturday, September 28 at 7:30 at Libby Gardner Concert Hall (1375 E Presidents Circle). Admission is FREE.
