The conception and creation of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) with the vision “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world!” has been taken up a notch this Winter/Festive (WF) 2014; this will be its Fifteenth Edition. The much awaited extravaganza will be held from 20th – 24th of August in Mumbai at Hotel Palladium and will witness many novel and refreshing initiatives promising the fashion aficionados an opulent experience. Here’s a glimpse into what to watch out for this LFW Winter/Festive 2014.
Red Carpet Curtain Raiser
The Fashion runways are already heating up for the much awaited LFW WF 2014 with the curtain raiser cum red carpet event organized by LFW at Palladium Hotel on July 28, 2014. The event unveiled the list of 86 participating designers and 17 sponsors to India’s leading fashion and trade event. The official schedule of LFW can is listed on the LFW website.
Audiences also received a preview into the designer collection with Shriya Saran adorning a Neha Agarwal outfit, Gauhar Khan sporting a close necked geometric print SVA dress by Sonam and Paras, Konkona Sen Sharma draped in a white and blue Anavila Misra saree, Deeksha Seth in a blue and green Swati Vijaivargie, Amrita Puri for Ridhi Mehra and many more.
Double Treat
The show starters at the LFW WF 2014 are set to double the fun and excitement as DHL brings star designers Masaba Gupta and Amit Aggarwal together as the opening designers. The opening show will have a blend of Masaba’s distinctive and bold style with Amit’s revolutionary fashion sense. DHL’s yellow accent is going to make its presence felt in the first show of the season.
Kids Show
For the very first time, the runways at LFW will witness a Kids fashion show, co-hosted by Hamley’s and Mattel. Hamley’s in association with Barbie and Hot Wheels, have selected 20 kids who participated in their workshop and auditioned for the Hamley’s Ramp Champ at Hamley’s stores across India. The show will see little girls dressed in pretty Barbie outfits and Boys in Hot Wheels fashion wear.
Unveiling Pakistani Designers

Pakistan brings to LFW WF 2014 Faiza Samee, Rizwan Beyg, Sania Maskatiya and Zara Shahjahan, four Pakistani designers, who will make their debut show on 22nd August. Pristine Fresh Faces
LFW is considered as one of the most popular and respected launch pads for new faces and this LFW WF 2014 will see 9 new faces from Mumbai & 6 from Bengaluru, who have emerged as the front runners in the drilling and fierce rounds of auditions.
Another first in the history of Lakme, a search to find the face of Lakme was performed and accomplished with winner Aisha Sharma who will endorse Lakmé’s core category of products including the iconic Lakmé Face Magic and Peach Milk Moisturizers.
Manish Malhotra finale
The grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week will be presented by one of the most influential and eminent fashion designers of the country, Manish Malhotra and his showstopper for the evening will be Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Manish who will be showcasing Lakmé Absolute’s bridal trousseau will be teaming with Cory Walia, Lakme’s make-up maestro to craft the Lakme Absolute Bridal Dream Team and set the runway on fire with ‘The Gloss Look’.
