CMT utilized multiple media outlets to announce this year’s nominees for the CMT Music Awards, including the Today show, where Lady Antebellum helped break the big news. Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood then hit their social media pages to continue the announcements, and even some local Nashvillians got in on the action.
And if that wasn’t enough fun for Carrie, she also received the most nominations with five, including two nods in the Video of the Year category for “Something in the Water” and “Somethin’ Bad,” her collaboration with Miranda Lambert. Lady Antebellum and Kenny Chesney follow closely behind with four nominations each.
But country music isn’t the only genre represented at this year’s CMT Music Awards. The Performance of the Year category recognizes collaborations between Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves, Bob Seger and Jason Aldean, and John Legend and Lee Ann Womack from their appearances on CMT Crossroads, while Aloe Blacc receives his nod for his performance with Lady Antebellum on CMT’s Ultimate Kickoff Party.
Now, get your voting fingers ready—it’s time! Head over to cmt.com and choose your favorite country stars and their videos. Voting continues until June 8 at 10 a.m. ET. The CMT Music Awards air live from Nashville on June 10 at 8 p.m. ET, and the six finalists for Video of the Year will be announced at the beginning of the broadcast. Viewers can then vote for a winner at cmt.com, CMT mobile and via text message throughout the telecast.
If you’re in town for CMA Music Festival or just headed to Nashville next month, you can attend the CMT Music Awards, held at Bridgestone Arena on June 10. Tickets go on sale May 16 through Ticketmaster outlets and at the Bridgestone Arena box office.
Congratulations to all the nominees.
