CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston Water System’s Board of Commissioners approved the 2017 fiscal year budget at its regular meeting on Thursday, September 29. In the approved budget, retail water and sewer customer rates remain the same as the 2016 rates. The newly approved budget of $132,854,300 goes into effect January 1, 2017, and runs through the end of the year.

“We are proud that we are able to keep rates steady and affordable for our customers,” said Kin Hill, CEO. “This is a reflection of the hard work and careful planning by our staff and Board of Commissioners. We will continue to work efficiently, keep costs in check, and deliver high-quality services to our service area,” Hill said.

Charleston Water System serves approximately 117,000 retail water customers and 56,000 retail sewer customers throughout the Charleston region.
