I have knitted a blanket for each of my boys, and this baby was not going to be any different. I started a few weeks after I found out I was pregnant, and decided to go with neutral earthy colors. I am very happy how this turned out and I enjoyed so very much the whole process of knitting the blanket, from beginning to end. I am actually sad that it is over!

Originally it is not a blanket but a Shetland Hap shawl (pattern from Gudrun Jonhston "Hansel"). I anyhow think many people knit it with a baby in mind, but putting it over my shoulders I have to say I would love to have something like this draped over my back during the winter months. It has a traditional Shetland construction where you first knit the center square, then one picks up stitches around it and knits the colorwork, and finally there is a knit-on border. The border took me two weeks to complete, it was a loooong one!

It is big (1.25 meters wide) and squishy with all the garter stich. And now I will just continue knitting things for this baby girl, longies and hats are next on the list!
