MIAMI, FL – March 23, 2016 – (HISPANICIZE WIRE) – Hispanicize and DiMe Media announced today the finalists of the 2nd Annual Tecla Awards, the most prestigious national honor highlighting the achievements of top Latino and multicultural content creators. From Beauty and Food Creators to Comedians and Live Video Broadcasters the 2016 Tecla Awards feature more than 100 finalists in 28 categories that represent an explosion of talent from across the U.S. Hispanic community. The finalists are being announced via the Hispanicize social media channels including Periscope, Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook at 2 PM ET today.

Presented in partnership with TELEMUNDO, the star-studded Tecla Awards gala will take place on Thursday, April 7th during Hispanicize Week at Icon in South Beach and for the first time will be internationally live streamed.

Honoring excellence in U.S. Latino online video, blogging, media, marketing and those who create it, the 2nd Annual Tecla Awards reflect the growing state of original Latino programming native to YouTube, Facebook, Vine, Instagram, YouNow, Periscope, Pinterest, Twitter, blogging and virtually all types of social media platforms.

“The Teclas are a powerful statement of the growth and maturity of our digital creators community and the brands and media companies that are now part of this growing universe,” said Cristy Clavijo-Kish, Hispanicize Media Group partner and 2016 Tecla Awards Chair. “Coupled with our exciting co-hosts Jorge Bernal and Julissa Bermudez, a top musical talent performance and a slew of celebrity presenters, the Teclas will be a major highlight of Hispanicize 2016.”

This year the Teclas received more than 1,000 nominations, nearly three times more than for the inaugural 2015 competition, and represents a fantastic line-up of talented Latino and multicultural content creators.

Finalists were determined by a public nominations process and a Tecla Awards Nominations Academy. Winners of the 2016 Tecla Awards will be determined by a Tecla Judges Academy comprised of a blue ribbon panel of leaders shaping the future of U.S. Hispanic social media, entertainment and marketing. The judges include creators, senior brand executives, influencer network leaders, publicists and other experts in the online content development industry.

In addition to TELEMUNDO, to date 2016 Tecla Award sponsors include Toyota, Prudential Financial, Raydr and Burson Latino, who will be livestreaming the awards show.
