1. The Queens Hotel, St Ives

The Queens Hotel is St Ives’ favourite gastropub. With big flavours and local food at affordable prices, it has just been awarded an AA Rosette for the third year running. On a Sunday, the pub serves a choice of roast beef sourced from Harvey Bros in St Ives and roast pork bought from St Just butchers McFadden’s. Preparation starts early in the week, as the Head Chef cooks the meat in a water bath for three days to make it tender and tasty, with his gravy taking a whole two days to prepare. Booking in advance is essential as Sundays are very popular.

3. Rashleigh Arms, Charlestown

Sunday carvery at the Rashleigh Arms is very popular with bookings available for 12 noon, 2pm and 6pm. The pub has just introduced a brand new menu with a focus on using solely Cornish meat and fish. Their roast pork is from Etheringtons butchers who source from farms in Cornwall and often local fishermen supply the pub with their catch straight from the quay. As well as Sunday lunches, the Raleigh’s delicious Christmas menu is soon to be introduced but we suggest getting in quick to book a festive feast, as spaces are limited.

4. Cornish Arms, St Merryn

The Cornish Arms owned by Rick and Jill Stein won silver in the ‘Best Pub of the Year’ category in the recent Cornwall Tourism Awards. Based on Rick’s famous recipes the pub offers a simple British menu, with dishes like real beef burgers, mussels and chips and scampi in the basket. During the winter the pub is the perfect retreat with a log fire and cosy bar. Winter also sees the return of fish Friday night, Saturday curry night and of course the famous Sunday roast, served from 12 noon to 6pm.
