For those in manufacturing, making strategic decisions quickly and precisely is a part of everyday life. You would probably agree that it is important to equip those quick-witted decision makers with the appropriate tools to make the most strategic decisions possible and communicate their decisions properly. After all, strategic decisions chart the course for decisions that impact quality – and corporate competitiveness – today, tomorrow, next week, this month, this year and the years to come. Keep reading to learn how EQMS systems streamline data.

In LNS Research‘s latest research survey, Metrics that Matter, the various tools that decision makers need to make their choices were explored, and it was widely agreed that the operations and plant managers, who interact with and make the most tactical decisions on the floor, need the most access to timely data. This makes sense: when something goes wrong on the shop floor, the manager must make a quick choice. Being aware of the latest information allows the manager to make the best decision possible for any given situation.

In Metrics that Matter, those who were surveyed were asked whether or not they felt quality leaders had access to the data they needed in an efficient manner. Only 33 percent of respondents said that the data was readily available to the quality leaders who needed it. The most informed leaders were operations managers, and even so, only 44 percent of respondents said that operations managers had strong access to the necessary data. Those in the C-suite fared even worse; the companies surveyed thought the C-suite had access to timely data at only 21 percent of the time.

As these results show, essential data is not always available to those in the manufacturing process. Many production teams are living in a past where data takes hours to arrive; in some cases surveyed, it took days for news of one part of the production process to reach upper management. Now, in the age of technology, there is no reason for data to arrive that slowly.

Given the importance of quality data in managing operations from every level, it is critical that time-sensitive data reach the right people at the right time. Connecting management to the data they need in real time can be accomplished by utilizing a software system.

One example of real-time data sharing software is Enterprise Quality Management Software, or EQMS, which allows information to flow seamlessly from one point to another. This software would allow the company’s data to be accessible instantly by any manager at any level of the production process. EQMS such as the software offered by IQS is easily installed and deployed. Imagine a company whose data was streamlined and standardized; misinformation would vanish, business analysts would have a simple way to access what they needed and even maintenance personnel could function better with the knowledge of where their skills were required. This world is completely plausible through a simple upgrade of technology.

The need for fast and efficient data sharing is non-negotiable in today’s fast paced world. IQS offers software with data collection that is unparalleled; data is efficiently and effectively streamlined throughout every segment of the company, from the executive suites to the maintenance crew.

This is the age of the future. Don’t let yourself or your company be left behind. Finding ways to communicate quickly and clearly can be a struggle, but it is possible, and your company will be better for it. EQMS systems streamline data.
