Hi everyone! Today I’m going to share my review of the White Radiance range from Olay which is the brightening range from the brand. Olay is a very trusted name in skincare and I’m a big fan of their moisturizers and serums. Previously, I’ve reviewed their Total Effects range as well as their Regenerist range. While the previously reviewed ranges were aimed at ageing at different stages, the White Radiance range targets dark spots and uneven skin tone by boosting the metabolism of the skin cells. Apart from improving skin tone, it also helps in repairing the skin barrier which leads to better moisture retention by the skin. The result is radiant skin that looks healthy and has a natural, pearly glow. The range contains 5 products which I’ve been trying out since over 4 weeks now. Here are my thoughts –

Olay White Radiance Brightening Foaming Cleanser (Rs 349 for 100gms) – Buy online

The cleanser comes in a squeeze tube packaging and is a pearly white, foaming face wash. It lathers very well with water and cleanses the skin deeply, removing all dirt, impurities and makeup residue. Its free from harsh SLS/SLES foaming agents so it doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils. That being said, I’m a little picky about my cleansers and I tend to prefer very mild, gel based cleansers for my combination-oily skin so I didn’t exactly love this. So I don’t reach for this one everyday but on days when I’ve been outdoors for a long time and my skin is all kinds of grimy, a deep cleanse with this feels really satisfying!

Olay White Radiance Intensive Brightening Serum (Rs 999 for 50ml) – Buy online

The serum is the star of the range and comes in an elegant clear bottle with a silver cap. It contains microbeads that get crushed as you pump out the product, releasing concentrated actives. I love the light gel consistency of this serum. It sinks into the skin very quickly, without any greasiness and would work across skin types. I like to use this twice a day, morning as well as evening, before applying my moisturizer. It contains Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) which is a powerful ingredient that helps erase discolorations, improves skin elasticity and dramatically enhances the barrier function of the skin. Its listed as the second ingredient, after Water, so we know the serum contains this potent ingredient in abundance! In addition, it also contains several forms of Vitamin C which helps in reducing dark spots while Glycerin and Mannitol act as humectants, helping the skin retain moisture. Serums have the ability to penetrate a lot deeper in the layers of the skin (it can go up to 10 layers deep into the skin!) so they work in a much more targeted and efficient manner. Overall, this is an excellent serum for fighting dark spots and helping restore a healthy moisture balance to the skin.

Olay White Radiance Brightening Intensive Lotion SPF 24 PA ++ (Rs 999 for 75ml) – Buy online

I love this moisturizer as the consistency is absolutely perfect for my combination skin. I also love the hygienic and easy-to-use pump bottle packaging. Its a lightweight lotion that doesn’t leave any greasiness on the skin but still provides sufficient moisture and slip to the skin so sunscreen/makeup glides with ease. I would highly recommend this to people with normal to oily or combination skin who find oil-free moisturizers not hydrating enough. This also contains Niacinamide and Glycerin along with Ethylhexyl Salicylate, an organic ester that is often used in sunscreens because of its ability to absorb UVB rays, thus providing excellent sun protection.

Olay White Radiance Brightening Intensive Cream SPF 24 PA++ (Rs 999 for 50 gms) – Buy online

The Brightening Intensive Day Cream provides the same benefits as the Brightening Lotion but in a more emollient, cream texture. For people with normal to dry skin, who prefer creamy formulations over lotions, this would be a better choice as compared to the lotion reviewed above. I have not used this much since my skin is on the oilier side and the lotion works perfectly for me.

Olay White Radiance Brightening Night Essence (Rs 999 for 50ml) – Buy online

The night cream in this range comes in a premium jar packaging and has the same look as the day cream. It has a rich, luxurious creamy feel which I quite like for night time. While lightweight lotions are preferable for daytime use, I like using a rich, nourishing cream for the night that helps rejuvenate and replenish the skin. This night cream works in synergy with the serum (highly recommend using the serum before using the night cream for best results) and you wake up with supple, nourished skin in the morning. It feels creamy but not oily or greasy so it’s not unpleasant to use, even for someone with oily skin. In terms of ingredients, this also contains Glycerin and Niacinamide as two of the chief ingredients along with natural leaf and flower extracts that provide anti-oxidant benefits. It also contains Panthenol (derived from Vitamin B5) which is an excellent lubricant for the skin (and hair too) and gives a smooth, supple feel to the skin.

Overall, I’m quite pleased with the Olay White Radiance range and I think it’s an excellent option for people looking for a complete range that helps reduce dark spots and discolorations. The packaging has a very luxurious and premium feel to it and I like that the products are not exorbitantly expensive. When used together, the products help reduce skin dullness and give a fresher, healthier look to the skin. Apart from targeting melanin, they also help nourish and repair the skin, giving it a smoother, more supple feel. The cleanser and day cream didn’t suit my skin too much but I would definitely recommend the serum, day lotion and night cream from this range!
