The Wizard of Oz Morning Matinee
Join the Senator Theatre for their Family Saturday Matinee! On May 17th, they’re showing The Wizard of Oz. Just $5 a ticket and doors open at 9:30 AM.

Baltimore Regional Toddler Fair
Greenspring Montessori School is delighted to host the 20th Annual Baltimore Regional Toddler Fair this year! Come one! Come all! The fair will be on Saturday, May 17 from 10am-2pm, and will feature exhibitors who specialize in products and services for families with young children. Come enjoy fun activities for the whole family that include interactive music demonstrations, food, a mammal & reptile exhibit, pony rides and much more! The fair is FREE to the public!

Book Bonanza at Port Discovery
Celebrate Children’s Book Week at Port Discovery’s first Book Bonanza.  Participate in unique storytimes, meet authors, visit the Book Buggy, and receive free books! 10 AM – 4 PM.

First English Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten Strawberry Festival
First English Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten has their Strawberry Festival this Saturday…great for young children. It’s from 10 to 1 and features old fashioned games and crafts, music and more! Saturday from 10 AM – 1 PM.

Cardboard Automata Competition at the Maryland Science Center
Design, build, and test your own moving sculpture in our Cardboard Automata Competition. A cardboard automaton is a crank operated machine that combines the use of simple machines with storytelling and is made mostly of recycled cardboard and bamboo skewers. Whether you are inspired by the story you wish to tell, or the mechanical movement you envision, art and technical engineering will have to blend together for success in this competition! 11 AM – 1 PM.

Sarah Jayne Orton Memorial Walk

On Saturday, May 17th the 1st Annual Sarah Jayne Orton Memorial Walk will take place at Sandymount Park in Finksburg.  It is a tribute to little five year old Sarah Orton who passed away suddenly in October 2013 and whose sixth birthday would have been on May 15th.  Sarah loved all animals and lived her short life doing all she could to help and care for them. Proceeds benefit the Baltimore Humane Society.

Arts Every Day at the Zoo
Animals and art are what you will experience if you visit the Zoo on May 17th. The Zoo is partnering with Arts Every Day to showcase visual and preforming artwork created by students from 35 Baltimore City Public Schools. This family-friendly event will also feature make-and-take art tables, face painting, and an art tour. Student musical performances will begin at 10am at Waterfowl Pavilion. The visual art exhibition and art activities will take place in the Meeting Barn and Giraffe House from 11am-1pm.

Babies + Bagels + Big Kids, too!
Featuring Kids Dentist Stephanie Gold. Join the Downtown Baltimore JCC on Sunday morning for bagels and play! Each month a different expert will be on site to answer all your parenting questions. DBJCC play rooms will be open for play from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Art Outside
his FREE event features Maryland artists showing and selling their artwork, a Maryland Distinguished Artist Gallery, performing arts from Baltimore area schools and arts organizations, strolling entertainment, children’s arts & crafts, some of Baltimore’s best Food Trucks, lots of free parking and more. (cool) progeny is hosting the kids’ tent!

Free Family Sundays: The Great Outdoors
Join the BMA every Sunday for activities the entire family can enjoy. Express your inner artist in a hands-on art-making workshop. Come on the last Sunday of the month for informal chats with a gallery educator about a single work of art in the collection. Family Workshops are held in the Temporary Education Classroom located on the second floor. This Sunday, invent an imaginary landscape!

Campfire Games at Robert E. Lee Park
Hike with Robert E. Lee Park staff  to their campfire ring to play outdoor games, sing campfire songs, and eat s’mores! Kosher s’mores available upon request. All ages. $3/pp.

Drop-In Art Activities: Play the Part

All the Walters is a stage! What is your character’s story? Tell your tale through set design, props, and even masks! Move, dance and give voice to all of the art that you make with us in May. Every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM – 3 PM. No registration is required. Drop in, make and take a fantastic piece of art home with you!  This weekend, “set the stage.”

Peter Pan and Wendy by Pumpkin Theatre
Wendy Darling is a girl on the verge of becoming a young lady and like Peter Pan is having trouble growing up; wishing to stay a child forever. Smee, Captain Hook and of course Tinker Bell join this musical cast in a new telling of this famous tale of adventures in Neverland. Join Pumpkin Theatre for this imaginative tale. Shows 1 PM and 3 PM, Saturdays and Sundays.

Cane Pole Fishing
Come fish for bluegill and largemouth bass with our cane poles. We provide the worms. No rod and reels allowed. Adults and children 16+ must have MD fishing licenses in order to participate. Fishing is only allowed in the park with a naturalist. Ages 5+ This event takes place at the Oregon Ridge Nature Center. Reservations are required; please call the center at 410-887-1815 to register. Saturday and Sunday.

Children’s Playhouse of MD presents: A Chorus Line

The Children’s Playhouse of Maryland Presents: A Chorus Line! In residence at CCBC Essex, Providing classes, summer camps and performing opportunities for young performers ages 4 – 18. Children’s Playhouse produces four musicals and one play each season. Performances take place in the Administration Building Lecture Hall on the campus of CCBC Essex. Saturday and Sunday at 1 PM.

Edible Plants and Earth Oven Pizza

Many edibles grow around Marshy Point Park. Join a naturalist to find them, then help build a pizza with those edibles to cook in our earth oven. $3 per person, $2 for members. Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 PM.
