NOC - Network Engineer
Network Operations Center (NOC) seeks an advanced level network engineer responsible for providing second level technical escalation point for Tier 1 NOC staff in a 24/7/365 infrastructure and monitoring support role. Capable of configuring and administering a defined technology/system (e.g. hardware, operating systems, network and possible middleware) in support of ongoing operations and projects. Manage projects, incidents and requests for a defined technology environment. Provide network specific technical expertise for the support of customer infrastructure system requirements. Individual will work as part of a global team in support of Inflammable clients. Work in accordance with the established procedures and aligned to industry best practices.The successful candidate will have a track record and desire to excel at both technical issue resolution and customer engagement. Multi-tasking and the ability to successfully manage multiple issues at once are necessary for success. The NOC will provide 24x7 proactive monitoring for the networks, customers, and devices populated in the monitoring tools. Alarm acknowledgement, ticketing, correlation, and fix agent assignment are all part of the NOC's responsibilities.ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities include the monitoring of existing client network infrastructures and the ability to work within a defined set of processes and procedures with a focus on meeting service level requirements to increase customer satisfaction. Support and be responsible for defined system administration activities Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to work in stressful situations Ensure that planned and unplanned events are being ticketed, tracked, assigned and resolved in accordance to the NOC guidelines Utilization of monitoring tools to provide both reactive and proactive support for the client's network and systems infrastructure Engagement and tracking of third party resources that may be utilized to assist in the troubleshooting process Assist in documentation of new processes and procedures to improve team efficiency and customer satisfaction Subject Mater Expert (SME) and escalation point for NOC tier 1 team members Project lead; drive projects and technology solutions to completion for both internal requirements and customer needsRequired Skills Possess an advanced understanding of network products and Data Center server equipment Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to perform RFO's, Post Mortem on incidents and communication with peers and management Advanced understanding of network fundamentals with a focus on TCP/IP Advanced understanding of routing and switching protocols CCNP level technical expertise with real world knowledge Understanding or certification in ITIL is a plus Team player with NOC Supervisor skills; team mentoring, advanced troubleshooting and SME Advanced knowledge and experience with the following underlining technologies; databases, web servers, content management systems (CMS), Linux, Windows desktop & server, Apple MAC, networking hardware and interconnecting protocols Project Management, SQL Reporting, HTML or scripting, advanced subject matter expert (SME) skill set to further and mentor team developmentRequired ExperienceTypically requires BS/BA degree in related field or equivalent plus 2-4 years of related experience: Experience with Data Center and Network Infrastructure services monitoring and the ability to troubleshoot them effectively to resolution Knowledgeable in and have advanced experience supporting IT infrastructure and applications Advanced understanding of ITIL Incident Management and ability to apply best practices Must demonstrate strategic thinking skills and maturity in tackling complex problems, dealing with people, technology and processes Demonstrates a high level of energy, results driven and able to work under pressure with tight deadlines Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment Strong follow-through and initiative to stay with issues until they are resolved, along with discipline and tenacity to meet deadlines 2 plus years in NOC like or ISP experience; many members in a single room Ability to pass a criminal background check 2 year or more related experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 Support roleFlexibility Ability to work morning or afternoon shifts Fill-in for team member shifts (24x7x365) that go on vacation or call in sick Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritize multiple tasksLocationThis position will be located in Irving, TX
