Social media presents wonderful opportunities for networking with other like minded people, of different professions and spheres of influence, in different countries, cultures and social levels: Dialoging on anything and everything ~ From the serious to the sublime ~ Topical to the banal.

What are the most popular Social Media sites?

The top seven most popular Social Media sites according to their Alexa Global Traffic Rank on August 1, 2015 are:

Facebook: 900,000,000 Estimated Unique Monthly Visitors.

Twitter: 310,000,000 Estimated Unique Monthly Visitors.

LinkedIn: 255,000,000 Estimated Unique Monthly Visitors.

Pinterest: 250,000,000 Estimated Unique Monthly Visitors.

Google Plus+: 120,000,000 Estimated Unique Monthly Visitors.

Tumblr: 110,000,000 Estimated Unique Monthly Visitors.

Instagram: 100,000,000 Estimated Unique Monthly Visitors.

As an individual or sole trader/owner of a business, having an active presence on all the most popular forms of Social Media offered today has become virtually impossible.

However in this ‘highly competitive world’ in order to attract and/or maintain an interest in their business, millions of individuals, small and large business owners alike realize the need they ~ Or their business ~ Has for a Social Media presence, on at least one of the main Social Media platforms.

What are the benefits of networking through any of these Social Media sites?

My feeling is that everyone without exception who is a Compumatrix member has the seed of the ‘Entrepreneurial Spirit’ within. We were born to make our unique mark on this planet, for the betterment of all ~ So why not share it?

While some people may externalize this ‘Entrepreneurial Spirit’ quite naturally and be totally relaxed talking to their friends, long term associates and clients about Compumatrix, others may be in denial of its very existence ~ And just not feel at ease sharing their business personally.

There may also come a time when people, although very comfortable speaking about Compumatrix may not feel totally confident about explaining, for instance, the complex nature of the Virtual Currency Industry or a particular aspect of the overall business. Or they simply may not have the time/inclination to explain all the intricacies someone else may require of them.

Enter Social Media. Compumatrix members who have one or more Social Media sites dedicated to Compumatrix, with images, articles, information etc. relating to Compumatrix and the Virtual Currency Industry ~ Will have an established venue to send enquirers to ~ Who can then choose for themselves what they want/need to explore further.

Unlike a company, affiliate or sometimes even a personal website, these Social Media outlets also provide additional options for ongoing two-way ‘conversations.’

How can you extend your social sphere and business presence with Facebook?

You may already have a Facebook Wall for connecting with your personal friends and family: Sharing information about your interests and topical issues and occasionally mention your line of business on your Wall.

However the generally accepted and professional approach of using Facebook to promote your business is to separate all or most of your business content from your personal conversations by designing a distinctly separate Business Page.

Later you can incorporate some or all of the business content from your Page with the more personal content of your Wall. You will have to gauge when the time is right ~ For you personally, to introduce your business ~ Depending on how you already use your Wall and the people you are connected to.

What are the main differences between a Facebook WALL and a Facebook PAGE?

If you wish to share online what you personally do offline and/or online ~ Usually your personal interests/hobby and/or keeping up with friends/family ~ Just get a Facebook Wall.

However when you wish to share, promote and market what you and/or your business does ~ As a professional ~ Having a Facebook Page can serve you exceptionally well.

Concerned about ‘Personal Privacy?’

Simply be ‘discreet’ with EVERYTHING you share and you shouldn’t have any trouble. My online ‘motto’ has always been ‘NEVER share ANYTHING online (email and ALL social networking including Compumatrix) that you wouldn’t want your mother/father/sister/brother/boyfriend/husband/neighbour/employer etc. to see or find out about 2nd, 3rd or 4th hand.

REMEMBER:

1. Whether it’s your Facebook Wall or Page ~ YOU are in control of the content that appears on YOUR space via your Settings.

2. While you need to set up your Facebook Wall in order to create your Facebook Page ~ You don’t have to actually use the Wall ~ However that too can also serve you really well.

The Promotion of Your Business with Facebook.

Some really informative items are shared on the official Compumatrix Facebook Page: Topics that directly related to Compumatrix and the Virtual Currency industry as well as those of a more general nature. It’s very easy to share any of these items onto your own Facebook Page and by adding your own comments ~ Your Page it will grow to represent YOUR personal style of business. This will be discussed in more detail in the next article.

How to set up your own Facebook Page.

Whether you wish to market your Compumatrix business or any other business, these are the simple steps involved in setting up your FaceBook Page ~ As distinct from your personal FaceBook Account ie Wall.

1. Go to: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

2. Select the Option eg ‘Local Business or Place’ OR whatever is appropriate for you.

3. Select the Category eg ‘Business Services’ OR whatever is relevant to your business/product.

4. Fill out the form: Providing the name of your business. You can then, although it’s not obligatory, fill out your address and phone number.

5. Highlight the box: ‘I agree to Facebook Pages Terms’ and click: ‘Get Started.’

6. Click on the option ‘I already have a FaceBook Account’ (Presuming you have one already.) If not: Click on the option ‘I do not have a FaceBook Account’ and follow the steps provided.

7. Set Your Profile Picture. Don’t overlook this as it’s very important if you want people to ‘Like’ your new Page.

8. Click on ‘Continue’ at the bottom of the page.

9. At this stage DON’T invite your friends and contacts: You need to have some good content there first, so that they will genuinely ‘Like’ your Page.

10. Click on ‘Continue’ at the bottom of the page.

11. Add some basic information so that people who visit your page know more about it. Add your website. This can be your personal website or blog, the Compumatrix Blog or your Compumatrix URL

12. Tell people about your Page. Keep it brief. eg My ‘About’ is: Extend your personal Social Sphere and Business Presence ~ Learn about Compumatrix and participate in the emerging world of Virtual Currency. Click on Save Changes.

NOTE: As soon as your Page has been established, you can edit any of this information by going to ‘Info’ (On the left side menu) Then click on the ’Edit Info’ link at the top of the page.

13. You are now ready to make your first post. Click on ‘Wall’ (On the left side menu) and then in the same way that you create posts on your personal FaceBook Wall ~ Write your introductory post which can be a welcome message with a few comments about what you intend to share on your Page.

14. Personally I like to post a variety of messages, including images and videos etc. before sharing a new Page with anyone ~ And then when you feel confident about sharing your Page, send a private invitation to just a few select people to begin with. Start by choosing friends you’re already connected with at FaceBook. Gradually you will find many different ways to tell other people about your new Facebook Page.

About the Cover Image

I have always loved the rainbow as a symbol of Compumatrix. While there may be a diversity of myths and beliefs surrounding the rainbow, it is generally seen to represent a connection with the ‘magic’ that instills hope in the hearts of humankind and lets dreams come true.

As a symbol for Compumatrix, for me the rainbow represents all the different people from countries all over the world coming together in harmony, together weaving their ‘magic’ that will enable dreamers to dream all over the world.
