BoomTown Fair are looking for an experienced PR and Marketing Assistant. This role is key to supporting all promotional and marketing activity of the company. The right person will extend the reach of the marketing campaigns, further the engagement of the festival via all media and be a team player with enthusiastic approach to creative thinking.

PR and Marketing Assistant role is key to supporting all promotional activity and reputation maintenance of BoomTown Fair. The right person will extend the reach of the marketing campaigns, further the engagement of the festival to target groups and provide solid admin support to the Media Manager and Creative Director.

Duties and responsibilities

Press Relations

• Handle all incoming enquires

• Process press accreditation applications

• Respond to press material requests

• Co-ordinate pre-event interviews with artists and relevant press titles

• Research publications and contacts across all associated genres

• Spot press opportunities and pitch ideas to targeted publications

• Monitor and distribute internally all online, print and broadcast coverage

• Assist in drafting and distribution of press releases

• Assist in selling in and securing pre-event coverage across all media platforms

• Issue tickets to all accredited reviewing press

Social Media

• Monitor and interact on all social media pages, events and threads

• Assist with content ideas

• Draft and facilitate social media posts

• Produce creative content and set up adverts across social media channels

• Ensure that BoomTown awareness campaigns are supported and conversations kept ongoing in the public domain.

• Assist increasing followers and audience engagement

Advertising

• Assist in planning advertising strategy and implementing campaign

• Research publications for advertising targets

• Create database of advertising contacts

• Negotiate advertising rates

• Liaise with designer on artwork and ensure with publication by deadline

• Co-ordinate editorial coverage when placing adverts

• Research locations and companies for London & National 4/6 sheet adverts

Street Marketing

• Assist in recruitment and management of nationwide street promo teams

• Co-ordinate print and delivery of marketing materials

• Extend promo networks within mainland Europe and Ireland

• Identify key locations and venues for marketing materials distribution

General

• Assist with content and drafting monthly newsletters; crew, public & local

• Liaise with external media companies; videographers, photographers and graphic designers. To facilitate briefs, provide additional information and co-ordinate activity

• Assist the Media Manager with any additional duties

• Update website with recent news stories

• Help chase up content for festival programme

Onsite role

• Assist with management of Media office.

• Co-ordinate interview schedules for press and headliners.

• Manage press information and relations.

• Create a hub for communications requirements (internet access, charging points and updated information).

• Manage volunteers to monitor front of stage pits to ensure safety of photographers

• Ensure that all photographers, film crews and press have correct accreditation onsite for their required access.

• Monitor and respond to all press enquiries

• Monitor and respond to all public facing social media enquiries

• Help manage onsite volunteers

• Co-ordinate with venues, stage managers, key boomtown personnel to ensure that times and locations for press and media highlights are update date and confirmed

• Co-ordinate with Music Office for any artist rescheduling and ensure that all media are informed.

• Co-ordinate vantage points (cherry picker) access for film crews and photographers

• General duties to assist in smooth running of all media relations onsite.

Skills required

• An understanding of BoomTown Fair, its history and ethos

• Understanding of the ‘voice’ of BoomTown

• Knowledge of social media and how to communicate with an extensive fan base across multiple platforms

• Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to interact with a range of audiences

• Ability to work on multiple projects at once

• Calm, friendly and enthusiastic approach to all situations

• Familiar with using Google docs, Google forms, Dropbox, word, excel as well as CMS, Media Monitoring analytics, mass mailing systems

• Self-motivator who works well within a team

• Must be available for up to one month working onsite from mid-July to mid-August
