The Rivers State Governor Rt Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi emerged the overall winner in the best performing Nigerian governors poll. The poll which ran across various online fora, social network platforms as well as the premiumratings site lasted for one month and saw several participants within and across Nigeria. The poll was based on the major sectors of the Nigerian state economy which include: Agriculture, Infrastructure, Education, Health, Security, Rural and region Development (development outside the state capital), Job Creation/Human Capital Development and Resource management/ Prudence.

After collation and computation of all the poll results the Rivers State governor Rt Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi emerged the overall winner polling 47.11% of the total polls after coming tops in Education, Health, Job creation/human Capital development and Agricultural sectors of the economy. The Lagos State government Babatunde Fashola came second after polling 9.61% of the total and the Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha came third after polling 9.25%.

SECTORAL BREAK DOWN OF THE POLL RESULTS

Agriculture: the Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amachi came tops in the Agricultural sector after polling 34.15% of the total polls in the Agric sector while Kwara State governor Ahmed Abdulfatah polled a total of 29.27% and the Sokoto State governor Wamakko came third by managing 4.88% . participants who rooted for the Rivers State governor pointed out his various Agricultural initiative and programs which includes but not limited to: Songai farm initiatives which some pointed out is twenty times its prototype in Porto novo, Benin Republic, fish farming taking place in several LGAs , Banana plantation in Tai covering over a thousand hectares of land, oil palm plantation, rubber plantation, cassava plantation, poultry farming, among others.

Infrastructure: The Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio came tops after polling 41.67% of the total polls in this sector. The Lagos and Rivers State governors Babatunde Fashola and Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi tied in second position after polling a total of 20.83% each while Jigawa state governor Sule Lamido came third after managing 6.25% of the total polls. A Cross section of participants who commented emphasized the uncommon transformation of Akwa Ibom state from relatively rural town to a modern city with one of the best road networks in the country. Some commentators also made reference to some monumental projects embarked by the state government such as the new airport, stadium, aesthetic bridges among others

Education: In Education sector, the Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi came tops with 67.92% of the total polls while The Imo State governor Rochas Okorocha came second after securing 26.41% of the polls. Kano State governor came third with 3.77%. most participant who commented stated that the Rivers State government built the best Schools in the country numbering hundreds with facilities of international standard. Some also pointed out how the Rivers state government has been able to transformed the once ailing state university to one of the best universities in the country.

Health: In Health sector, the Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi once again sits at the top after garnering an outstanding 85.11% of total polls. The Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha came second with 6.38% while Kano state governor Rabiu Kwankwaso came third after managing 4.26% of the total polls. Majority of the participants who commented noted that the Rivers State government health policies remains the best in the country as its free Medicare is being carried out in over a hundred primary health centers built across the state in addition to a few secondary health centers built. some also cited that he trained over four hundred doctors abroad to manage the health centers and its facilities.

Security: In security, the Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola came tops after polling 33.33% of the total polls while Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi came second with 22.22% of the total. The Anambra state governor willi Obiano came third with 16.67%. Some participant who commented in this sector cited some winning security programs and initiatives the lagos state administration embarked to reduce crimes and insecurity to the barest minimum. Such initiatives includes RRS, CSA, OPMESA, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Safe city among others

Rural and Regional development: In this sector, the Jigawa state governor sule Lamido came tops after securing 50% of the total polls while the Rivers State governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi came second after muzzling 20% and anambra state governor willi obiano came third with 15%. some of the commentators pointed out that the Jigawa State government has embarked on numerous rural development program chief among others includes: Rural Electrification (mainly with solar power), Massive housing projects, impressive rural road network among others

Job creation/human capital development: In this sector, the Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi came tops after enjoying a huge 84.38% of the total polls in this sector while the Imo State governor came second with 12.5% of the total poll. The Lagos State governor came third with a 3.13%. most of the participant who commented in this sector noted that the Rivers State government has really empowered and created jobs for her people more than any other government in the current dispensation. Most commented about the thirteen thousand teaching jobs created to provide the manpower needs for the new modern primary and secondary schools while others commented about the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) an initiative of the state government which was instituted to empower the youths through foreign Scholarships, skills acquisition, Agriculture, job fairs, etc

Resource Prudence/management: In this sector, the Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso came tops after polling 21.74% of the total polls while Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido came second with 17.39% and Katisina State governor managed third with 13.01%. Majority of participants who commented pointed out that Kano state despite being the most populated state and having one of the least budget per capital its government however, was able to pull out commendable performances in most sectors of the economy even without breaking the bank. Some also cited that the Kano state debt profile is relatively modest vis a vis states with comparable size.
