Hey guys, Kent Trammell and I have been working on a few workshops that will be starting on the first week of November. For those not familiar with Workshops these are intense 5-6 week mentorships where you learn directly from the instructor and other students in a small class size environment. It's limited to 15 students. Here are the two workshops available:

This workshop will revolve around building a first person shooter from the ground up. In 5 weeks you’ll have the knowledge to create animated weapons that fire, create enemies that use pathfinding to seek out other players, build UI elements for ammo counts and damage and learn the fundamentals of level design.

Experience with Unity is highly recommended along with a good understanding of C# concepts as this will be a fairly compressed schedule for those wanting to learn how to build an FPS without the fluff.

This 5 weeks will include hours of pre-recorded content for you to watch at your leisure, weekly livestreams to interact with the instructor and other students in a live environment and plenty of homework and critiques to follow up on. This means you’ll get direct feedback catered to your experience level and with a small class size you’ll never feel left out.

So who am I? I’m Jonathan Gonzalez and I teach the Unity side of things on CGCookie.com. I’ve been teaching Unity game development for about 4 years now through various channels online, including my own development site. I’ve dealt with all sorts of people trying to learn game development and I’m passionate about learning more myself.

So if you’re looking to focus and learn directly from me and from others who are looking for the same then this workshop is for you.

This is the first run of character modeling workshop that I intend to be part of a “Building Character” series: Realism, Stylized, and Creature. The focus here this time is Realism. Thus the workshop delves deep into the art of character creation, inspired by the great character work from Blur Studios, Digic Pictures, and artists like Baldasseroni and Grassetti.

This workshop will include weekly assignments, live streams on Wednesday evenings CST, and 1-on-1 feedback to facilitate a personal and intentional online learning experience. Students are expected to have at least a fundamental knowledge of Blender’s interface and modeling tools. The advanced-level curriculum will result in a high-quality, realistic character model by the end of the six-week schedule.
