Hello! My name is Dr. Jason Yu. I studied medicine at USYD and currently work as an intern.

I specialise in and have a passion for preparing students for medical and dentistry school interviews. Having taught students for over 8 years, I love teaching and continue to be involved in teaching medical students currently in university.

I have been through the trials and tribulations of failing the first time and applying again as a graduate entrant (I have been on the rollercoaster and I can feel your pain!).

Are medicine/dentistry interviews important?

Medicine and dentistry are becoming more competitive with thousands of applicants per year and only a few hundred spots. Getting into medicine early will also help career progression as specializing as a doctor is also bottlenecked.

You have so far got a great predicted ATAR and UMAT score however, this is no guarantee you will get into medicine. I personally know of students with 99.90 ATAR and 99% UMAT who have not been offered medicine. Don’t be a deserving candidate that fails because of poor preparation. This is your lifetime career we are talking about here; you need to spend effort and time to pursue it.

How will I help you?

My aim is to use your passion for medicine and channel it into a response that will impress interviewers. I do not encourage students to concoct information but to reflect and use their own personal experiences to shape unique responses. I will also identify weaknesses and work with you to improve them.

I want you to get into medicine and will do everything in my power to get you over the line and celebrate with you when you get into medicine/dentistry (Party anyone?).

If you are my student, I am here to help navigate you through the process well beyond the interview. I will also help guide any questions you have about the career and progression including specialization.

I give honest and candid feedback. Some people say it is blunt, but I will not hesitate to give you a genuine appraisal.

Is interview training worth it?

Interviews can count from 33-100% of your admission criteria but is often not taken seriously. This is a HUGE component and should not be underestimated. You DO NOT want to fail just because you are complacent.

A year’s worth of lost salary as a doctor significantly outweighs any monetary investment you make if you get into medicine.

Since I have been working as a doctor, I have experienced first-hand how interview skills are a necessity in life. This includes making connections or networks in your future specialty of interest and performing well in subsequent job interviews (Yes there are plenty more job interviews ahead, at least one every year after residency).

My Experience

So far I have helped over 80 STUDENTS with approximately 85% SUCCESS RATE gain admission into medicine and dentistry into various universities across Australia including UNSW, USYD, UWS, UNDS, UNDF, UADEL, JCU, BOND, Monash and some overseas universities.

FAQs

Why are your services so expensive?

In comparison to the interview training companies that charge in excess of $400 and only give you personalized feedback on one or two questions, I believe my services are fairly priced.

I have been asked to teach for a few companies but have refused them because I do not think they put student interests at their core. 20-30 students in a class and 10 students in a tutorial group does not constitute a supportive learning environment. In addition the drastic improvements made by students after a 2 hour session with me are far greater than students who attend 1 day workshops hosted by other companies. I attribute this to directed feedback as students only This is according to past students who have been trained by myself and by other companies simultaneously.

Limited past questions or generic questions are provided by most training companies whereas I provide up to 100+ REAL PAST QUESTIONS for certain universities. This is updated on a yearly basis.

How long will it take for me to improve?

This varies depending on the studentsbut on average 4-5hrs of personalised feedback and guidance can significantly improve your responses. Some students have needed about 2hrs others longer than 5hrs, This just depends on the individual.

Can you tutor me for universities/colleges overseas?

The same attributes are being tested in all medicine/dentistry schools. The same concepts apply but the only downside is that I may not be able to provide you with past questions. I have helped students gain entry into medical schools in the UK, USA and New Zealand.

How do I pay for online lessons?

I accept bank transfer (CBA is preferred) and Paypal.
