How to deal with stress?
Don’t Stress!
Dedicate 30 minutes a day to yourself.
Don’t do anything that requires a lot of work or thinking. This could either be enjoying a good meal, watching YouTube videos, taking a nap or just walking around to get some fresh air.
Have a hobby
Hobbies really help tap into another part of your brain. It can help take away your thoughts of being stressed with school exams and midterms.
Hobbies can include playing musical instruments, exercising, doing art and much more.
What works for me for example would be making holiday card or making YouTube videos (you can follow me at /MonikaSzucs to check it out)
Hang out with friends
Don’t forget about your friends during school time. It doesn’t mean you have to spend hours of your time together. You could either go:
grab a coffee
Play an online game
Walk around and talk
Take naps
Taking naps is important because it allows you to really relax. Naps are usually only a few minutes. You don’t want to force yourself to study when you are really exhausted.
If you force yourself to study when you’re tired it can be really hard to concentrate.
Maybe try out the sleep pods at the BCIT library.
Study ahead of time
If you organize your time effectively this can really help reduce your stress such as:
Staying on top of your projects. Finish them as soon as you get it.
Look over your notes every day after school to make sure you retain the information you were given. This will make sure you don’t leave everything to the last minute and help you keep your sleep schedule constant.
Make an appointment with the school counseling
If you are really having a hard time studying or managing your tasks for school you could speak to a counselor at school.
Counselors can help you organize your thought and help you figure out what’s the best solution for you.
Make sure to get around 8 hours of sleep.
Getting a good night’s sleep can do a lot of difference.
If you get too little sleep it can be hard to concentrate in your class the next day. Especially if you have a test the next day.
Exercise
Don’t forget to take time to exercise when you can. This can include taking the stairs instead of the elevator to get to classes, joining the gym, walking or running around various places.
Exercise can help clear your mind and really help you focus on your school work.
Drink lots of water
Don’t forget to drink lots of water. Water really helps you stay hydrated.
For example staying hydrated really helped reduce the amount of headaches I get.
Talk to your teachers
Don’t forget to talk to your teachers in case you feel overwhelmed with work. Sometimes, especially with new teachers, are still finding out the best pace for the class. They may either change their teaching style to help you and others. Other they can recommend places where you could get tutoring.
