Responsibilities
The primary role of a Project Management Office (PMO) Director is to not only manage approved projects but strategically work with the Project Manager (PM) team to implement best practices and PM standards across the organization. The PMO Director will also act as a coach and mentor to the PM team. The PMO Director is responsible for creation, administration, and continuous improvement of the inVentiv Health Selling Solutions PM methodology. The PMO Director utilizes all available techniques in conjunction with exceptional communication skills to keep projects in scope, in budget and delivered on time. The PMO Director manages directly and provides oversight to the PM team on all aspects of new implementations, continuous-improvement initiatives and internal projects that are formally initiated and serves as the VP of Sales Operation's main point of contact across all client and internal projects.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(Duties may include, but not limited to all or some of the following)
Innovate, construct and enforce project management standards across all operational functions.
Create and implement project-management best practices for PMs.
Present PM services to prospective and existing clients
Mentor and coach the PMs to ensure project success
Collect, prioritize and assign approved projects
Manage high visibility projects directly as needed
Track project time and measure effectiveness of each project
Track resource utilization to properly align stakeholders to projects
Engage with clients to facilitate productive project-management activities.
Manage system migrations, new client implementations, client expansion projects, and new process implementations.
For new client implementations, follow documented processes to lead project transitions from the sales cycle to implementation to ensure services are delivered per contract.
Follow the documented PM methodology with defined phases.
Depending on scope and complexity of each project, may need to generate and support the following deliverables:communication plan, resource plan, risk management plan, scope baseline, work breakdown structure, project schedule, cost management plan, quality management plan for each project assigned.
Record and monitor an issues log for initiated projects to document requested changes.
Manage/compile insightful data if data collection is part of an initiated project.
Monitor timelines and budgetary issues for each client project as they are initiated.
Create relevant project documentation such as project charters, project plans, schedules, business rules, business requirements, and work instructions.
Oversee the execution of the project plan including but not limited to Project schedule & task management; risk management.
Hold periodic project status meetings with internal team and client.
Manage project closeout and oversee all activities e.g. Lessons Learned and tasks that need to be performed to close out a project.
Maintain project documentation repository
Manage sign-off of key deliverables associated with initiated projects
Work closely with Domain leads and functional managers to drive project success
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Required
BA/BS or equivalent experience.
10+ years experience in a client services/project manager role
5+ years leading project management teams and developing PM templates, processes, and methodologies
5+ years with leading team of Project Managers as direct reports
5+ years with sales operations applications (sales rep launches etc)
Formal Project Management Training
Preferred
Pharmaceutical industry experience
Field Automation Software Development and Deployment experience
Project Management/Team leadership experience in a client delivery software/services company
PMP Certification
Skills:
Ability to create Project Management Framework and lead department in the implementation and adoption of framework
Ability to hire and manage team for high performance
Resource Management including scheduling, tracking, and estimating work effort
