Is that the sun? Is spring starting to show its bloom? For many of you the answer is no, for me its yes. Regardless the comics come every week, they are amazing and we have some great picks for you to enjoy. Full of spoilers. Enjoy!

ACTION COMICS #29 – Scott Keys

With such a huge week of amazing comics, I decided that I would return to my roots. No, there isn’t a Spider-Man book out this week  I mean, my TRUE roots…Superman! Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder have been positively outstanding on Action Comics, and issue 29 is no exception. If this splash page of Superman cutting loose doesn’t do anything for you, then I don’t know what will.  Stunning, simply stunning!

PUNISHER #3 – Corey Fryia

Nathan Edmonson and Mitch Gerards are ushering it a new era of Frank Castle and I personally feel that they are off to a fantastic start. I picked the panel below for two reasons. 1.) The punisher skull mask is such a cool addition to Castle’s wardrobe. Call of Duty fans should be living this. 2.) The narration just oozes classic Punisher. Edmonson definitely understands what makes Frank tick.

About Me: Corey Fryia is a independent comic book creator and former Associate Editor at Readcomicbooks.net. He loves creator-owned comics and has a very manly beard. You can follow him (and his manly beard) on Twitter @coreyfryia

JUPITER’S LEGACY #4 – Pete Buser

Sure, this series is coming out at a slower pace than a three legged turtle, but Frank Quitely’s art is always worth the wait.  He’s teaming up with his original Authority co-conspirator Mark Millar, and bringing us a world ruled by not-so-nice super powers.  I choose this panel, not because of Quitely’s magnificent gigantic action shots, but because of his detail on the little girl’s face.  Millar wrote a genius 3 page spread where our tiny hero-in-hiding, Jason, hands her his ice cream, pulls a Superman to change into his costume, puts out a chemical fire, slips back into his street clothes and then takes back his cone.

This series is really taking off.

About Me: Pete Buser is an enigma wrapped in a variant cover. Follow his mystery @petebuser

STARLIGHT #1 – J.J. Conquergood

One day I’m going to be of an appropriate age and look at a wall of pictures of myself and say this exact same line. Also, this comic was amazing.

About Me: Full time cable guy, Star Wars geek and soccer fanatic. The twitter addict can be found @loafandjug tweeting about insane customers, what he’s reading or being a soccer hooligan online.

AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE #4 – Thomas Zimmer

Afterlife with Archie no. 4 is my pick for book of the week. Beautifully illustrated by Francesco Francavilla & written by Roberto Aguirre – Sacasa. This incredible book has not only made me purchase, care, and get creeped out by zombies but this month it bought a tear to my eye. (Thankyou-loveyou-forever).

About Me: Im Tommy. I love comics. Enjoy every sandwich. Follow me @VictorVonZoom

TRILLIUM #7 – Tom Barnett

I have loved every twist and turn, literally, of Trillium. Jeff Lemire is doing some amazing work here. I love the grandeur of this scene. The perspective is energetic and the leading lines follow Nika right up to the temple. I think I was in as much awe as Nika was.

About Me: I’m Tom. Slightly addicted to comics, Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek. I also try to spend some time behind the lens of my camera. Love Bronze Age comics and the Black Hole movie from Disney. Follow me @tphoto10

MOON KNIGHT #1 – Ken Godberson III

Spoilers! I know nothing about Moon Knight. At least prior to this first issue. Ellis, Shalvey, and Bellaire did something I thought impossible: they made me actually want to go back and read what came before. They created a magnificently weird crime introduction to their interpretation of the character and I cannot wait to see where it goes.

About Me: When he is not working at a library or on his Master’s Degree, Ken Godberson III is usually writing comics, prose and screenplays. He tends to be an expert on absolutely nothing except on why Impulse is the greatest superhero ever. He can be found on Twitter @kengodbersoniii or on Tumblr at http://kengodbersoniii.tumblr.com/

QUANTUM AND WOODY #0 – Conrad Roth

The All-New Now, Ultimate, Redefining Origin of Everyone’s Favorite Hero… Vincent Van Goat! James Asmus welcomes back regular series artist, Tom Fowler, to tell this tragic tale. My reverence for The Incredible Hulk television show knows no bounds, and this “homage” is  fantastic. I am aware that I’m technically cheating with my submission, but in the erudite vernacular of our horny hero, “MEH”

About Me: When I’m not buying, bagging, boarding, or reading comics, I’m likely to be found boisterously bitching about them on Twitter @conmandtherad

AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE #4 – Ben Diederich

This series really shouldn’t work: take the Archie characters from everyone’s youth and drop them into a zombie/horror/slasher film. At the very least it should just be over-the-top camp. Instead, Aguirre-Sacasa and Francavilla are creating a comics masterpiece that transcends the teen romance and horror genres. The book is beautiful, that goes without saying having Francavilla illustrate it, but it also overflows with pathos and takes itself deadly seriously. This book could have been filled with silly humor going for cheap laughs and it might have been good. Instead, by taking itself seriously it has become great. There were two scenes in this issue that devastated me. The first featuring Archie’s dog, and the second his dad. Either one of these scenes could have been featured in their own issue, but by having both in short order this book became my must pick for the week. I don’t know how they’re going to continue for much longer with the body count in each issue, but I can’t wait to find out.

About Me: @Punkrocksellout is a former punk rocker turned molecular biologist turned patent attorney turned father, who spends way too much time on twitter when he’s not out running barefoot.

AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE #4 – Cameron Williams

Afterlife with Archie is a surprisingly good book. Surprising both because it’s Archie, and because it’s really, really dark. It is a true horror book, but it’s the sentimental scenes in this book that will stick with you for a long time. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla are doing an amazing job.

About Me: Cameron Williams likes Red Lantern now. It’s DC though. Now he’s too ashamed to have a real bio. Find him on Twitter at @Wasgo. Just don’t bring it up. It’s too soon.

MOON KNIGHT #1 – Kulbir Man

There was never any choice this week when Ellis, Shalvey and Bellaire are launching a book. The story will always be well constructed and thought out, the art deep and refined and the colours compassionate and purposeful. You can see straight off the bat that Moon Knight is exempt from colour, which is such a marvellous effect to show his dissociation. The panels are well rendered to suitably show movement and effect with colouring to really show the impact of the gun. As you can tell I am expecting the moon with this comic, and so far it has begun with a bang.

About Me: I Spend the day as a surgeon operating on people, spend the night as a blogger operating on comics! Check out my blog www.houseofflyingscalpels.com or follow me @kooliebear

UNCANNY X-MEN #18 – Aaron Meyers

I bought this mostly for Rudy’s art. Great issue, amazing art.

About Me: Aaron Meyers loves reading comics, collecting comics and talking about comics. He’s grateful to share his love of comics with all of his friends on the Internet. From Twitter at @aaronmeyers, to his new podcast, Comics Therapy with Andrea Shockling, it’s all about the love of comics. He also loves his family, especially his wife, Chrissy Meyers. And while you were taking the time to read this, Aaron went and bought all the best issues from your store’s dollar bin. You lose, Aaron wins. #AllTheComics

Thanks as always for reading and sharing the most honored comics of the week with us. Same time next week, stay tuned!
