Baseball:
The University of Nebraska-Kearney rallied from a five-run deficit, scoring nine runs in the sixth inning to defeat Midland University on Wednesday afternoon, 14-7. Each team tallied 14 hits on the day, but the Warrior pitching staff issued seven walks compared to just one by the Lopers.
Midland falls to 7-5-1 with the loss and UNK moves to 5-6 on the year.
The Warriors open the home portion of their 2016 scheduled with a pair of doubleheaders this weekend in Fremont. First pitch of the home opener against Valley City State University on Saturday afternoon is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Moller Field. The two teams will also play a twinbill on Sunday beginning at noon.
Basketball:
The Girls State High School Basketball Tournament begins today in Lincoln. We'll broadcast the Bishop Neumann versus Kearney Catholic game at 2pm from the Devaney Sports Center on AM 1340 KHUB. Tonight, at 7:00, we'll broadcast the Fremont High versus Bellevue West game on Mix 105.5, from Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Pairings came out yesterday for the Boys' State Basketball tournament which begins next Thursday, in Lincoln. In Class A, Fremont will play Norfolk at 8:45pm at Pinnacle Bank Arena. In Class C1, Bishop Neumann will play Louisville at 9am from the Devaney Center. Also, in C1, North Bend Central will play Adams Central at 2pm at the Devaney Center. In D1, Archbishop Bergan will play Bruning-Davenport-Shickley at 10:45am at Lincoln East. In Class D2, Mead will play Giltner at 9am at Lincoln Northeast.

Basketball:
The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced its 2016 All-Conference Women's Basketball Team. Midland University's Joelle Overkamp was named Second Team All-GPAC while Megan Kucks and Miranda Paul each garnered Honorable Mention status.

Football:
Nebraska football coach Mike Riley says the Huskers have a better idea which direction they want to go as they get set for spring drills. The Huskers finished 6-7 in Riley's first season as head coach after a 37-29 victory over UCLA in the Foster Farms Bowl.
The Red-White Spring Game is April 16th.
Tennis:
The No. 69 Nebraska women's tennis team improved to 12-1 on the season with a 5-2 win over Big Ten Conference rival Iowa on Wednesday at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.
With the win in their Big Ten opener, the Huskers closed their season-opening 13-match homestand with a 12-1 record. Nebraska will hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday, when the Huskers travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to battled No. 52 Purdue.
Basketball:
The Nebraska women's basketball team opens the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday in Indianapolis against Rutgers. The Huskers are the seventh seed after finishing the Big Ten regular season with a 9-9 record and take on a 10th seeded Scarlet Knights team that was 8-10 in league play. The teams split two regular season contests. It is a 5:30 p.m. tip off in Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast on AM 1340 KHUB, with the Husker Sports Network. The winner advances to play second seeded Ohio State on Friday night.
Baseball:
After competing at the Tony Gwynn Classic last weekend in San Diego, the Nebraska baseball team (2-4, 0-0 Big Ten) will be in California for the second straight weekend, this time playing a three-game series against No. 20 Long Beach State (5-3, 0-0 Big West).
The Huskers and #20 ranked Dirtbags open the series on Friday night at 8 p.m. (CT). Saturday's game is scheduled for 4 p.m., while Sunday's finale is set for 1:30 p.m.
Basketball:
James Milliken had a career-high 26 points but it wasn't enough as the Creighton men's basketball team lost a 70-66 decision on Wednesday evening at Providence. Creighton dropped to 18-12 with the loss, while Providence improved to 21-9. Both teams are 9-8 and part of a three-way tie for fourth place in the BIG EAST Conference with one game to play.
Creighton closes out the regular-season on Saturday when it visits No. 5 Xavier for a game that will tip at 1:37 pm Central.
