Stallworth, who will sit out the 2016-17 season because of NCAA transfer rules, will redshirt and have three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Huskers.
The 5-6 guard from Chicago, Ill., led all Atlantic 10 freshmen in scoring with 13.1 points per game. She finished the season with 393 points, while knocking down 39 three-pointers on 35.1 percent shooting. Stallworth also led all Atlantic freshmen in assists with 3.8 per contest, totaling 114 assists against just 81 turnovers in 30 games.
Golf:
Nebraska Men's Golf Head Coach Bill Spangler is proud to announce that Judd Cornell has been named associate head coach, effective immediately.
Cornell, an Omaha, Neb., native, joined the Husker staff in 2013 as an assistant coach, and has helped the team to 19 top-10 tournament finishes in three years. Cornell's experience and extensive time with many of the top instructors throughout the United States has played a huge role in the preparation and development on and off the course for the Husker golfers.
Cornell graduated from Nebraska in 2007 after playing for the Huskers' nationally ranked team that included current Web.com Tour player Brady Schnell, 2013 PGA Tour Latino America winner Ty Capps, current professional Ryan Lenahan and Drew Reynolds. Cornell earned first-team academic All-Big 12 recognition, and is also a former Nebraska Amateur Player of the Year and Nebraska Junior Amateur Player of the Year.
Academics:
The Big Ten Conference announced on Wednesday that 914 students - including 18 members of the Nebraska track and field team - have earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award. The list includes students from all 14 institutions and 38 different sports who have recorded a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year.
Four Huskers earned perfect 4.0 GPAs during the term - Levi Gipson (nutrition, exercise & health science), Cody Rush (nutrition science), Angela Mercurio (biochemistry) and Bonnie Smith (biochemistry).
Big Ten Faculty Representatives established the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2008 to supplement the Academic All-Big Ten program. Similar to the Academic All-Big Ten honor, Distinguished Scholar Award recipients must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at their institution. However, the Distinguished Scholar Award encompasses only students with a minimum GPA of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year, excluding summer school. The Academic All-Big Ten threshold is a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for a student's academic career.
The Big Ten Conference announced on Wednesday that 914 students - including Kadie Rolfzen and Sydney Townsend of the Nebraska volleyball team - have earned the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award. The list includes students from all 14 institutions and 38 different sports who have recorded a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year.
Rolfzen, an advertising & public relations major from Papillion, posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in her junior season, making her one of 147 student-athletes who maintained a perfect GPA during the academic term. She was also a first-team All-American on the court while leading the Huskers to their fourth national championship.
Townsend, a Lincoln Pius X graduate, earned a 3.718 GPA majoring in chemistry. Both Townsend and Rolfzen were also academic All-Big Ten selections last season.
