The Huskers (2-0, 0-0) began their season with a victory in a triangular meet at Arizona State, defeating the Sun Devils and Bowling Green with a score of 194.050 last Friday. Jennie Laeng, this week's Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week, earned her first-career all-around victory for the Huskers, scoring a career-high 39.350. Laeng was a champion or co-champion on each event, earning her fourth individual title on uneven bars (9.85), along with her first event titles on vault (9.825), balance beam (9.825) and floor exercise (9.85). Her Gymnast of the Week honor is the first of her career, as well as Nebraska's first of the season.

Soccer:
NSCAA First Team All-Americans Fabian Herbers and Timo Pitter each took the next step in their respective soccer careers on Thursday, as the two members of Creighton's dynamic duo-which accounted for nearly 50 percent of the Bluejays' offensive output this season-were selected in the MLS SuperDraft in Baltimore, Md. Herbers, who was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year each of the past two seasons, was selected sixth overall by the Philadelphia Union with a pick acquired via a trade with the Houston Dyanomo last month.
After acquiring the 13th pick of the second round (33rd overall) from Colorado via a draft-day trade, FC Dallas selected Pitter. The Oberschwarzach, Germany, native posted 10 goals and five assists in 2015 en route to being named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year for a second-consecutive season.
