Before we get into the details, lets break the Ingress Protecting code down for you. IP ratings or Ingress Protection ratings are industry standard EN 60529 in recognition of the manufacturers effectiveness in sealing of electrical and electronic enclosures against intrusion of foreign bodies and moisture.
The typical ratings are shown in this format IPXX with the first X for intrusion protection and second X for protection against moisture. If the device is not rated for one of the two categories, the letter X is used in its place. E.g. IP67 is protected against dust and strong water jet and waves (waterproof) and IPX7 is just protected against strong water jet and waves.
