The ECHL

May 30, 2014

The following five referees and five linesmen have been selected to work the 2014 Kelly Cup Finals. The officials are selected based on the merit of their performance over the course of the regular season and their work thus far in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

As was the case during the Conference Finals, all games during the Kelly Cup Finals will utilize the two-referee system.

Referees: Pierre Lambert, Frederic Leblanc, Nic Leduc, JM McNulty and Ryan Murphy

Linesmen: Ryan Daisy, Steve Glines, Travis Jackson, Shaun Morgan and Steven Walsh

It is the third Finals assignment for Murphy, who also worked the 2011 and 2013 Kelly Cup Finals. McNulty, Leblanc and Leduc are each working the Kelly Cup Finals for the second consecutive season while Lambert is working his first Finals series.

Glines is working his third Kelly Cup Finals, having previously worked in 2009 and 2011. It is the second Finals appearance for Jackson, who also worked the 2011 Kelly Cup Finals. Daisy and Morgan are appearing in the Kelly Cup Finals for the second straight season while this is the first Finals for Walsh.

“This is a terrific honor for all of these officials to reach the Kelly Cup Finals,” said ECHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Ernst. “Each of them has earned this assignment as a result of their performance throughout the playoffs. For the officials working their first Finals, it will be a great experience, and for the officials returning to the Finals, it is a very good honor to have worked multiple series. It speaks to the development of officials in the ECHL. This is something that our supervisory staff and I take a great deal of pride in.”

Alaska is appearing in the Kelly Cup Finals for the fourth time. The Aces have captured Kelly Cup titles in two of their previous trips to the Finals, defeating Gwinnett 4 games to 1 in 2006 and Kalamazoo 4 games to 1 in 2011 while falling 4 games to 3 to South Carolina in 2009. Cincinnati is making its third appearance in the Kelly Cup Finals. The Cyclones captured Kelly Cup titles in their previous two appearances, defeating Las Vegas in 2008 and Idaho in 2010. The winner of the series will tie South Carolina for the most Kelly Cup titles in ECHL history, while joining the Stingrays and Hampton Roads Admirals (1991 and 1992 Riley Cup and 1998 Kelly Cup) for most championships in the ECHL’s 26-year history.
