A go-to look for many students in college consists of sweatpants and a sweatshirt. As soon as the temperature begins to drop on campus, many girls result to their daily uniform: yoga pants or leggings paired with a sweatshirt and UGGs. While I often surrender to this ultra-comfy look, this year I vowed to express my style throughout the week instead of just on the weekends. Besides, creating unique looks for different occasions beats writing yet another paper. Before venturing out on a shopping spree, I assessed the pieces already hanging in my closet or tucked away in drawers. With Macy’s mystylelab, I was able to add key, versatile pieces to my wardrobe that fit my style. I used these pieces to create three key looks for college students: one for a full day of errands/class, a comfortable look for the library or study session and a going out outfit.

As college students, our schedules fill up faster than beer steins at Oktoberfest. For those never-ending days you want a comfortable, yet put together outfit. This Material Girl maxi skirt delivers all these qualities. It provides comfort while still maintaining a chic vibe. I paired it with sneakers in order to accommodate a busy schedule and wore a basic white tank with lace for a feminine touch. To add structure, I threw on my new favorite versatile piece: a charcoal gray, Jessica Simpson leather jacket. The detachable hood plays-up the outfit’s laid back vibe while the jacket helps polish the ensemble. I finished it off with a layered necklace, which added a hint of turquoise to the monochrome look.

If we’re not running around campus due to hectic schedules, we’re probably studying for an upcoming exam or writing a paper. Stressing over deadlines and learning course material leaves no room for stressing over an outfit. The “library look” should offer extreme comfort sans pajama pants. Enter the slouchy sweater. This cozy Keds knit resembles a blanket hugging you while you work. To help dress up the look without sacrificing comfort, I sported a simple, yet chic, pair of black flats. The tight black leggings combined with the black flats help streamline the bottom portion of the outfit, providing a contrast in volume to the oversized sweater. This results in an overall carefree ensemble. As a final (scholarly) touch, I wore my black and white Chanel glasses and added a scarf for a splash of color.

Although education comes first, every college student needs to relieve tension—cue the weekend. As a senior I find my weekends start on a Thursday, which means three days of going out clothes. I’m a sucker for black and white, so when I spotted this American Rag button-up blouse with an embellished collar, I gravitated towards it. The simple top welcomes accessories while the collar adds an edgy vibe. To complement the embellishments I chose a thick, bold bracelet and leggings with a hint of shine. For a more dramatic look, I wore my Steve Madden wedged booties and a bold lip. Going out outfits should always be just as lively as the night ahead.

So far I’ve kept my vow to express my fashionable personality (fashionable workout clothes count too right?). Macy’s mystylelab made it easy for me to construct comfy, casual and chic looks for any day of the week. No matter the occasion, every outfit I create reflects my style.
