While I am a sucker for a pair of patterned harem pants or unusual trousers, I am also one of those girls that are “forever in blue jeans.” There is something comforting about putting on the perfect pair of denim; the fabric and the garment matures to your body, alludes to the all-American image and is one of the fabrics accessible enough to fit the demands of any wardrobe. Although the perfect pair of denim jeans are easy to imagine, they are also not easy to come across— denim needs to be comfortable, versatile and, of course, stylish. Although my black skinnies have always been my go-to pair of jeans, it’s finally time for them to take the backseat to my new American Eagle Outfitters dark wash Favorite Boyfriend Jeans.
I paired the denim with a plain white blouse with accent gold hardware, and I matched my accessories to accentuate the look. While I am normally a fan of layering with various colors, shapes and textures, the comfortable, casual denim demanded something more classic and simple. A white blouse added a touch of formality to the baggy denim, while its loose fit and simplicity remained consistent with the relaxed denim. A pair of patent red flats added a pop of color to the ensemble and added an unexpected texture to the outfit. To accent the gold rivets in the blouse, I accessorized with simple gold jewelry, including this beautiful Gorjana star bracelet and a Ralph Lauren collar necklace.
As a junior at school, the one thing in my wardrobe that I know I can always count on is a pair of good denim.
Tip: While I encourage experimentation in college with everything from your style to the classes you take, do not forget to also value your basics. Invest in a pair of American Eagle Outfitters denim that you feel comfortable enough to study in, and soon, you’ll be one very fashionable jean-ious.
