Guidecentral an Irish-based DIY platform, was acquired by WikiHow for an undisclosed sum recently. Guidecentral will remain a separate brand with a distinct community, content, apps and website.
Statista.com estimates the global DIY market value to be worth $31.9 billion in 2013 with an anticipated market value of $43.7 billion in 2018.
To date, Guidecentral raised nearly $1M from overseas investors including NXTP Labs. WikiHow is bootstrap financed and has refused VC funding and opportunities to sell the company to larger publicly traded corporations.
