Awards season is not just  about Hollywood and red carpets; it’s also time for Techcrunch’s own annual awards night–The Crunchies. On the 10th of February, in San Francisco, Techcrunch will honour best-in-class startups and technology innovations of the year. This year marks the second time collaborative consumption gets its own awards category to promote the movement beyond the community and to an international audience.

As the old adage goes, it’s an honour just to be nominated. We send our congratulations to this year’s nominees in the ‘Best Collaborative Consumption Service‘ category.



 

Airbnb

Airbnb is a trusted online marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world. Launched in 2008, it now allows people to rent accommodation in over 34,000 cities and 192 countries.Airbnb has topped 10 million guest stays since their launch and now has 550,000 properties listed worldwide.

 

Crowdtilt

Founded in Texas, this crowdsourcing company makes it easier for people to collect money for activities and causes. Over 200,000 groups have raised funds for their causes.

 

 



 

DogVacay

First in the pet-sharing vertical, DogVacay connects pet owners with trusted and insured pet sitters across America. There are over 10,999 pet sitters in their network available to contact.

 

Homejoy

One of the many services popping up helping busy Airbnb hosts, Homejoy connects home owners with certified professional home cleaners in their area. Started in July 2012 in Mountain View, CA, Homejoy is now based in San Francisco, CA and serves over 30 markets in the United States and Canada.

 

 

Lyft

Launching off the back of enterprise carpooling platform Zimride in 2012, Lyft connects passengers with background-checked community drivers.  Lyft is currently available for rides originating in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, San Diego, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, St.   Paul, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Denver, Charlotte, Dallas, Silicon Valley, Baltimore, Orange County, Sacramento and Nashville.

 

While not on the same bill, congratulations goes to BlaBlaCar, a ridesharing service founded in France which was nominated for  Best International Startup.It has over 3 million registered users across Europe.

 

 

 

Another notable is TaskUs which is nominated for “Best Bootstrapped Startup”. Founded in 2008, TaskUs employs over 500 people internationally, including operations consultants at its headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif, and teammates in the Philippines.
